The media can have a negative effect on self esteem and body image, which

can be very damaging

Low self esteem and body image can develop between ages 14-30 but it can start as early as 4 years old.

80% of women feel worse about themselves after seeing a beauty ad.

20 Million Women and 10 Million Men suffer from an eating disorder.

More than 350 million people of all ages suffer from depression.

About 85% percent of people don't accept themselves.

What is the cause of all this?

Low self esteem!Which is stemmed from the media. When people see photoshopped images they think they’re real but they are completely fake

Everyone wants to fit in When they don’t that “fix” themselves. People tell themselves negative thoughts/ideas when they don’t fit the medias “criteria.”

This is NOT okay!

What does it really mean to be “Pretty”?

According to the media its to be super skinny and blemish free but so few girls fit this so why do we let it exist?

Today's ideal female thinness is only attainable by 5% of the population.

What does that say about us as a country?

The perfect people we see in magazines are fake.

This is NOT ok

The Bad thats happeningAbercrombie won't stock plus sized clothes because they only want the “cool kids” shopping there which basically means super skinny people. This is terrible and twisted.

Facebook is very popular with 890 million viewers. They had a “fat” emoji which was a face with a double chin and chubby cheeks. It was supposed to be funny,but it only brought people down.

The good thats happeningSeventeen magazine now shows an un-touched photo every spread because of a petition run by Julia Bluhm.

Arie’s photos are all un-touched. It started with one ad and now the whole brand showing real girl with, curves and blemishes.

If its so bad why hasn't it changed?

The problem is that beauty sells!

How can you help?

Spread the word!Let people know its ok to be themselves, and that these

images aren't real.
