  • The Book of Mormon is a volume ofholy scripture comparable to theBible. It is a record of Gods dealingswith the ancient inhabitants of theAmericas and contains the fulness ofthe everlasting gospel.

The book was written by manyancient prophets by the spirit ofprophecy and revelation. Their words, written on gold plates, were quotedand abridged by a prophet-historiannamed Mormon. The record gives anaccount of two great civilizations. One came from Jerusalem in 600B.C., and afterward separated intotwo nations, known as the Nephitesand the Lamanites. The other camemuch earlier when the Lordconfounded the tongues at the Towerof Babel. This group is known as theJaredites. After thousands of years, allwere destroyed except the Lamanites, and they are among the ancestors ofthe American Indians.
