A message from Brad
Welcome to week 8 everyone!
Well there is no slowing down even though there are only 2 weeks left of the term! We are going to be extremely busy over the next fortnight with school photo’s, T-Ball, assembly and rewards day at Yarrangobilly caves! Not to mention all of the learning that will be in full swing!
Speaking of learning, I have been extremely impressed with the creation of our National Park diorama’s that the students have been designing over the past week. We have National Parks being created from all over Australia from snow, desert and rainforest. I cant wait to see the final product! All of the dioramas will be on display at our end of term assembly on Tuesday 24th September.
Have you been tuning in to sounds of the mountains on Friday? I have been really impressed with our year 5 students Jetty, George and Archie as they have presented all the news from around the area. Well done guys!
Just quietly, did everyone see the Raiders beat the storm on the weekend?!
That’s about all this week. Enjoy the week everyone!

A message from Miss Reynolds
Congratulations to all the students for their Robotics and Literacy Assessment last Monday. It was wonderful to see how the students experimented and programmed the different EV3 and Dashbots to move, talk and use sounds to retell a selected story for their peers. Well done. Today students will be using our Footy colours Day to present in a partnership our Healthy Active Lifestyle Assessment. Students had to organise a healthy snack by planning and preparing the snack and then taking a leadership role for their planned Active sport to teach and organise their peers to participate in. This fortnight our Artist focus has been on Henri Matisse. Students used paper cut-outs to design and create Paper collage. It was interesting to learn that Matisse took up Abstract Collage when he was unable to get out of a Wheelchair later in his life. In the K/1 classroom students have been exploring writing and expanding their sentences during creative writing. As part of our Modelled Reading we have been reading the book ‘Wonder’. The students are enjoying this novel. Next week we are watching the movie.

Numeracy in the spotlight
Did you know?
If you multiply 111,111,111 × 111,111,111 you get 12,345,678,987,654,321 - a palindrome number that reads the same forwards or backwards. And that works all the way back down to 11 x 11 (121) or just 1 x 1 (1).
Literacy Corner
Did you know ?
Believe it or not, the capital A hasn't always looked the way it does now. Ancient Egyptians wrote the letter upside down, creating a symbol that resembled a steer with horns.
