Annual Club Banquet Announced

Members,
Time is short as we approach the 70th
running of Speed Week.
We have received good news from the
SCTA crew who were on the salt this week.
They found the salt to be hard and dry with
enough room to grade out four courses for Speed Week.
The USFRA had to cancel their July Test & Tune meet due to a lack of entries and
not the rumored bad course conditions. Always check the web site of the organization
you are racing with. Club activities planned for the salt include a general membership
meeting on Monday evening of Speed Week. We will meet at the club hospitality tent.
Bring a chair, the club will provide beer and soft drinks. We will discuss pending club
business and the upcoming elections. There will be several board positions available for
those who wish to provide service to the club. The annual banquet will once again be
held on Wednesday evening at the Wendover Nugget Hotel.
While on the salt come on over to the hospitality tent, say hi, buy some new stuff and
tell us how you are doing.
To every one who is racing we wish you the best of luck!

Meeting called to order at 9:15 a.m. by President Dan Warner.
Board members present: Larry Volk, Justin Walsh, Mike LeFevers, Monte Wolfe, Skip Hendrickson, Donny Cummins, and Jim Travis.
Dan welcomed those present and noted the small turnout.
Opened meeting with a check into the club having made the change to the C/Air minimum from 225 MPH to 210 MPH. This was confirmed that the club voted to make the change at the meeting at Bonneville in 2017.
The minutes from the previous meeting were touched upon as being in the last news letter.
Justin gave the treasures report noting that we ended last year with a balance of $1,077 which is about perfect for being a non-profit. Major sponsorships have started coming in and to date (Jan. 21st) we have received $6500. Membership dues are also coming in with $9227 received thus far. We also have about $10,000 in inventory. Angie Volk has been a big help with the finances and the club would like to thank her for her tremendous help.
Next item brought forward was the publishing of the 200 MPH Club program booklet. We have done this in the past with positive response from the members. We neglected to get it done last year so Dan is asking the club if we would like to put one together for the upcoming season. Discussion…Pros, cons, costs…Agreed to get pricing on the small booklet and if reasonable (~$3000) move forward. This brought up the SCTA program with 200 MPH Club members photos. We pay the SCTA to include that for us. It was agreed to continue with that publication.
Next topic regards the recognition we give to members who have passed on in the previous year. It was brought to our attention that the club is not always notified and we find out through word of mouth, facebook or some other type of social media. We would like to add a reminder to the newsletter and website for people to notify the club through the website email contact or office phone so we can be sure to honor those members.
Website update: Donny Cummins is updating the site to take over after Kathy Olsen stepped down from the project after many years of service. The fee structure was discussed and agreed to for maintaining the site. It will not cost any more than it has.
The bi-annual club party has not had much response so we will continue to ask members for input on when and where that might like to have it again. Look into having something at the Wendover air base officers club during Speed Week.
2019 / 2020 elections: Dan Warner and Justin Walsh are stepping down so think about your nominations for Speed Week. Nominations can be accepted via email, snail mail, or at the club meeting.
