Boogie Woogie: American Style of piano based blues Popular in 1930-1940 Originated much earlier Extended from 1 piano to 3 pianos at the same time!!!! Also went to; Guitar, Big Band, Country and western Even Gospel!!!! Boogie Woogie was different to blues because it was mainly associated with dance music Pinetop Perkins proved this with the words indicating dancing It is not strictly a solo piano style, Also used to accompany singers and as a solo part in bands and small groups It is mainly 12 bar blues Its development was helped on by the Tin Roof Blues song. Used Boogie bass and incorporated new idea into the basic Boogie-Woogie idea The term of music Boogie-Woogie was given because of our ol friend Pinetop. The song Pinetops Boogie Woogie was a smash hit and the style of his song was named Boogie-Woogie after the song name. Stride: A jazz piano style that was developed in the large cities of the East Coast, mainly New York, during 1920s and 1930s. The left hand characteristically plays a four-beat pulse with a single bass note, octave, seventh or tenth interval on the first and third beats, and a chord on the second and fourth beats.
