His father Jesse insisted him to go to west point in New York State so he did.
Fell in love with a woman named Julia Dert. He proposed to her in a carriage ride and they later got married.

How did the Civil War
end? Robert E. Lee surrendered at
Appomattox. The war was not exactly over until the
confederate president was captured in Irwinville on May 10, 1865. Then that is when president Andrew Johnson
declared the war over.
