FRIeND, MeNTOR, PuBlIShINg PARTNeR

In 2015, we unexpectedly lost our dear friend and publishing partner Steve Meyerowitz, a pio-

neer in the sprouting and wellness community. The journey he took to heal from chronic illness

taught him valuable lessons about the power of diet to fight disease. Steve spent four decades sharing these lessons with thousands of individuals across the world through his books, speak-

ing engagements, and online classes.

We’ll miss Steve’s endless enthusiasm, positive spirit, and great compassion for others. The

knowledge he imparted will serve to help health-seekers for many years to come. His growing

legacy will be continued by his sons Noah and Ari, the Sprout Brothers.

Steve, we dedicate this catalog to you.

SugAR DeTOxDefeat Cravings and Restore Your health

Ann Eugene

According to data compiled in 2014 by the market research firm Euromonitor International, the average person in the United States consumes over 126 grams of sugar per day (about 26

teaspoons), which is more than twice what the World Health Organization recommends as the

daily intake limit. In Ireland, about 97 grams of sugar is consumed per day; in Australia, about

95.6 grams; and in Canada, about 89.1 grams.

Among the chronic health conditions associated with excess sugar intake are anxiety, depres-

sion, fatigue, fatty liver disease, high cholesterol, hypothyroidism, irritable bowel syndrome,

metabolic syndrome, migraine headaches, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.

This guidebook by Canadian author Ann Eugene provides all the tools needed to transform our relationship with

sugar. Learn how to decipher product labels, implement a jump-start plan to eliminate sugar cravings, and easily

maintain a new style of eating centered on nourishing plant-based proteins, wholesome carbohydrates, and

healthful sources of fat. Armed with the strategies in this guide, we can drop our reliance on that insidious sweet

stuff once and for all.

Also included are a few delicious recipes to make it easy to get started on the right track.

The ReSTORe-OuR-PlANeT DIeTFood Choices, Our environment, and Our health

Patricia Tallman, PhD

Are you an environmentalist who champions wise water usage, clean oceans, and a reduction

in greenhouse gases? Or are you a health-savvy individual interested in permanent weight

loss, disease prevention, and optimal nutrition? Regardless of your perspectives and inten-

tions, you’ll discover through this book how a plant-based diet can directly address all of these

concerns. Dr. Patricia Tallman explains why the most effective action you can take to mitigate climate change, water pollution, rainforest destruction, and water shortages also will enable

you to combat diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Side-by-side comparisons of plant-based recipes versus animal-based recipes chart their envi-

ronmental impact in terms of water usage, manure production, and greenhouse gas emissions,

as well as their nutritional content. For example, by simply replacing beef in a Sloppy Joe rec-

ipe with a plant-based protein, you can save the following per serving: 1,670 liters of water; 4.4 kilograms of

manure; and enough greenhouse gas to drive 10.7 kilometers. Included is a vast array of more than 65 easy-

to-make recipes that are as appetizing as they are nutritious.

“With easy to understand information, graphs and topics, (here) is a great tool for anyone

looking to improve their health and the health of the Earth’s ecosystems.”

—Keegan Kuhn, filmmaker, codirector of Cowspiracy

Author bio: Art Ludwig is an ecological-systems designer whose mission is to develop systems and share information for a higher quality of life with reduced ecological impact. Designing optimal, integrated processes has been Art’s day job since 1980. His specialty is complex, deep-green “sys-tems of systems” for water, wastewater, energy, shelter, and transportation. He takes a serious engineer’s eye to developing simple, mostly DIY solu-tions that work long term.

Art has studied and worked in 27 countries, attaining fluency in five lan-guages. He has consulted for the states of New York, California, and New Mexico on water-reuse policy and building codes and has given dozens of lectures and workshops. Many of Art’s innovations have been adopted worldwide and incorporated into building codes. All of his work is available in the public domain, including his “laundry to landscape” and “branched drain” greywater systems. (Continued on page 7)
