ABOUT US!

Ever since its first issue, way back in 1872, The Shetland Times has faithfully reported on

island affairs and is Shetland’s longest standing weekly newspaper. Today, The Shetland Times

prints and publishes much of the literature available in the islands, and these titles, along with

almost every other Shetland book in print can be found in The Shetland Times Bookshop –

the biggest in Shetland and better stocked than most bookshops of comparable size on the

Mainland. Able to give your order personal service, we have professional staff, and are

members of the Booksellers Association.

Our mail order service has been established for many years. In this list you will find details

of Shetland, Orkney, Scottish and Viking books, together with a selection of children’s books.

The listings are in alphabetical order, by author, to make it easier for you to find titles by a

particular author. A reference number is shown at the end of each description. If the book

you are looking for is not on the list it may well be in stock anyway. If not, then we will try

to get it for you. As part of our service we receive regular bibliographic updates on CD-ROM

which enables us to offer a first class service on customers’ special orders. Simply fill in the

order form with the book you require and let us search and order for you.

Shetlanders have a reputation for hospitality and we make every effort to ensure your visit

is an enjoyable one. Our bookshop is well known to visitors to Shetland and many continue

to use our services long after their trip is over. Here are a few comments from our visitors’
