Despite all of the excitement associated with eschatological fulfilment, de-spite all of the assurance we have that it will be an experience of peace and abundant life, the mystery for which we long requires the risk of faith. Despite all of the times that we have celebrated the Nativity, we still do not have full comprehension and understanding. Still we are invited to enter deeply into the event that is before us. Will we step into a life of deeper faith and com-mitment, or will we merely participate in the external celebration of the feast? Only we can decide, and only we will really know the decision that we make.

The circumstances of our lives influence the way we live out our faith. As Christians, we are called to devote ourselves to the service of Christ. We must be committed to the good of people and not to the hoarding of things. “When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home.” (Matthew 1:24) Putting our complete trust in the Lord without expecting any-thing in return. Striving to put God first in all things and fol-low Him wherever He may lead us. As we prepare for the birth of our Lord, pray for the strength and courage to be a model of discipleship, just as Joseph was

You are the source of our life, and through your Spirit, you share your life of resurrection with us. ADVENT WREATH CEREMONY

The Fourth Candle, which is often named the Angel Gabriel Candle for those messengers who bring God’s Word into our world.

Come O Lord

O King of Peace, reign in my heart, And join the ends of all the earth as one, That I might join and sing in one great song; And I will try to do my part, Reach out to those around me ev’ry day, That I might bring Your peace to one another.

Come, O Lord! Come to every heart and waken all who sleep to Your joy; O Emmanuel, come to my heart, I still look for the joy Your Christmas brings, and I would be Your Presence in the world.

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

OFFERTORY I Have Loved You

I have loved you with

an everlasting love,

I have called you and you are mine;

I have loved you with

an everlasting love,

I have called you and you are mine.

Seek the face of the Lord and long for him:

He will bring you his light and his peace.

Seek the face of the Lord and long for him:

He will bring you his joy and his hope.

Seek the face of the Lord and long for him:

He will bring you his care and his love.

COMMUNION

Come and Journey with a Saviour

Come and journey with a Saviour Who has called us from our birth, Who has washed us in the waters, And who loved us on the earth.

Come and journey, come and journey With a Saviour who has come. We are all God’s sons and daughters. In the Spirit we are one. In the Spirit we are one.

Come and journey, journey inward, Come and seek him deep within, Where he meets us in our living, In our striving and our sin.

Come and journey, journey outward, Telling others of his name, Telling others of his glory, Of his cross and of the shame.

Come and journey, journey outward, Where that cross calls us to care, Where injustice and where hunger And the poor call us to share.

Come and journey, journey upward, Sing his praises, offer prayer. In the storm and in the stillness, Find his presence ev’rywhere.

Come and journey, journey onward, All our gifts we now shall bring, To the building of a city That is holy, Christ its king.
