Bored piles can be either used as single foundation piles (on/offshore), pile groups, inclined piles, or in various combinations for retaining walls. In general, bored piles can be installed in a variety of soils including very soft clays, dense sands and hard rock. Various drilling techniques and excavation tools are employed as needed. Bilfinger offers the following methods to excavate piles of various diameters depending on the soil conditions: Rotary Drilling Method Drive-Drill Excavation Method (Grab + Chisel) Reversed Circulation Method (RCD) Airlifting Method (and combinations with RCD) Flush drilling Method (for smaller diameter) Down-the-Hole-Hammer Drilling Method Blasting Methods If required, we own equipment to install steel casings using the following methods: <dir><dir> Driving (Drop Weight and Hammers) Vibrating (Vibro-hammers) Oscillating (VRM) Rotating (RDM) Pneumatic Installation (Hochstrasser-Weise Method) If casings are not required, or cannot be used, we can stabilize the borehole with water, bentonite or polymer. If the surrounding soils are stable enough, the continuous flight auger method can be used for drilling without any support. We also offer energy pile installation. These piles combine a load bearing capacity with the ability to retrieve thermal energy from the surrounding ground. Pile test methods like static, dynamic or even the O-cell test method are among our standard practices. We have performed several vertical compression pile tests up to 50 MN. Bored PilesThe large number of pile systems currently available on the market reflects the significance of pile foundations. Bored

piles can be either used as single foundation piles (on/offshore), pile groups, inclined piles, or in various combinations for

retaining walls. In general, bored piles can be installed in a variety of soils including very soft clays, dense sands and

hard rock. Various drilling techniques and excavation tools are employed as needed. Bilfinger offers the following

methods to excavate piles of various diameters depending on the soil conditions:

Rotary Drilling Method

Drive-Drill Excavation Method (Grab + Chisel)

Reversed Circulation Method (RCD)

Airlifting Method (and combinations with RCD)

Flush drilling Method (for smaller diameter)

Down-the-Hole-Hammer Drilling Method

Blasting Methods

If required, we own equipment to install steel casings using the following methods:

<dir><dir>

Driving (Drop Weight and Hammers)

Vibrating (Vibro-hammers)

Oscillating (VRM)

Rotating (RDM)

Pneumatic Installation (Hochstrasser-Weise Method)

If casings are not required, or cannot be used, we can stabilize the borehole with water, bentonite or polymer. If the

surrounding soils are stable enough, the continuous flight auger method can be used for drilling without any support. We

also offer energy pile installation. These piles combine a load bearing capacity with the ability to retrieve thermal energy

from the surrounding ground. Pile test methods like static, dynamic or even the O-cell test method are among our

standard practices. We have performed several vertical compression pile tests up to 50 MN.
