LEADERSHIP ............................................................................................................................................................................. Meeting Room 104Change Agent or Co-Conspirator? A Fireside Chat on Obtaining Power, Influence and Driving Healthy Advancements in the Workplace (W)Gender exclusion is still prominent in today’s work environments putting women in a challenging position – for obvious reasons around the lack of equity– but also for those trying to exist in a corporate landscape as they climb the ladder and try to make a name for themselves as a leader in a boys club. This intimate fireside chat will bring you up close and personal with Margaret McKenna – the first woman Deputy White House Counsel, the first president of Walmart foundation and the first woman president of Suffolk University. McKenna has forged the path of firsts and has also been a change agent in her different roles, from leading an effort to appoint more women and people of color to Federal judgeships, to prioritizing hunger as the signature issue for the Walmart foundation and driving governance change at Suffolk University. She has moved from government to the university life to the largest company in the world. How did she obtain these positions? How did she learn to navigate such different environments? What lessons did she learn about creating posi-tive change? Led by leadership expert Sue Hodgkinson, we will answer these questions, and you will leave inspired to take action and walk away with actual strategies to influence and obtain the distribution of power and control necessary to drive positive change and make strides towards equity and partnership.
Thought Leader: Susan Hodgkinson, principal, The Personal Brand Company, and author, The Leader’s Edge @personalbrandcoSpeaker: Margaret McKenna, 1st woman Deputy White House Counsel, 1st president of Walmart Foundation and first woman president of Suffolk University Emcee: Marian Heard, president and CEO, Oxen Hill Partners and founding board member, MA Conference for Women @masswomen
LEADERSHIP ............................................................................................................................................................................. Meeting Room 253Strategies to Stand Out, Step Up and Get Noticed (POE)Competition is fierce wherever you are, and whether you like it or not you are part of it. How do you stand out without alienating others? How do you get taken seriously in a male-dominated room? Join this team of leaders to uncover key lessons learned and new insights on how to: • Deal with manterrupting, bropriating and talkblocking; • Understand when to lead, when to follow and when to move on; • Assert your presence using strong verbal skills and body language; • Overcome bias and internal fears that prevent you from stepping up; and • Ways you can pay it forward.
Thought Leader: Jami Wintz McKeon, partner and chair, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP @morganlewislawPanelists:
Jessica Bennett, author, Feminist Fight Club: An Office Survival Manual for a Sexist Workplace @jess7bennettJill Larsen, SVP strategic talent acquisition, people planning and services HR, Cisco @ciscoTami Reiss, CEO, Cyrus Innovation, and creator, Just Not Sorry App @tamireiss
Emcee: Julie Planchet, vice president/general manager, portable analytical instruments business, Thermo Fisher @thermofisher
CAREER ADVANCEMENT ....................................................................................................................................................... BALLROOM EASTOvercoming the Imposter Syndrome to Become the Authentic Leader You Envision (POE)Do you fear that you’re a poser? Do you question if you are worthy? Are you scared that you couldn’t possibly be qualified to fill the shoes required in your position? Sadly, it’s a fear that strikes many of us — especially women. Self-doubt is crippling and presents one of the greatest barriers to becoming an authentic leader. This session will bring you up close with some of today’s most prominent women to share invaluable leadership lessons for increasing your confidence and presence. Using their real-life experiences as they climbed the ladder, we will help you reach beyond your comfort zone and explore strategies to eliminate feelings of inadequacy and achieve authenticity, including: • Why executive presence matters; • How to deal with and overcome fear, self-doubt and imposter syndrome; • The importance of building trust and credibility to accomplish more; and • How to find and use your most powerful and genuine voice.

Meeting Room 160The Hybrid Job: Harness the Skills Needed to Market Yourself Today and Create a Brand to Last! (POE)Technology is an unspoken requirement in the workplace today, where workers must understand and use it on a daily basis. Don’t be fooled, however, you can’t spend your days just hiding behind your screen. Companies are also requiring that their workers harness strong communication and “people skills” — thus creating what is known as the hybrid job. LIFE BALANCE – .........................................................................................................................................................................Meeting Room 205Namaste: Making Choices That Matter (POE)“Having it all” has become the subject of countless books, articles, debates and social media commentary, with passions running high in all directions. With such a wide spectrum of priorities, workloads and resources for women, it is impossible to define “life balance.” In fact, many believe that the ideal doesn’t actually exist. Today’s gospel truth around the topic seems to be that any woman who wants to advance in a challenging career has to make sacrifices. The Conference for Women believes it’s not about making sacrifices, but rather it’s about making choices that matter during various stages in life. Changing your mindset from “having it all” and achieving “life balance” will help you move away from the frantic nature of just hanging on to feeling at peace with your current life and load. Attend this session and learn from a diverse array of leading professionals about the difficult choices they made at various times throughout their career. Learn how they approached these decisions, the trade-offs they made and what they would do differently as they reflect on decades past. Attendees will walk away with clarity and tools to make choices in their lives and get that much closer to feeling at peace and enjoying what you have, versus struggling to have it all!

(LP)Based on her hit TED talk, Sally Kohn explores the practical application of finding compassion for others — including, or even especially, your enemies and haters and trolls — when they barely seem to deserve it. How do you not just talk the talk of “emotional correctness” but try to walk it every day — treating others with the compassion you want them to have for you and others? It’s not easy. In this personal and powerful talk, Kohn reads from her epic folder of hate mail and hate tweets and shares her own internal and external strategies for combating the meanness everyone experiences on some scale every day. Useful for everyone from young folks struggling with the emotional gauntlet of social media to adults struggling with the emotional gauntlet that is their kids, Kohn shares spiritual and practical tools we can all use, including: • How to distinguish hate from constructive criticism, and how to respond to both; • Three social media jujitsu strategies for dealing with haters without being hateful yourself; • Ways to renew yourself and your faith in humanity, even on social media; and • How to define — and stick to — your own public moral code of conduct.

Samantha Hand, government contracting & pricing compliance officer, Johnson & Johnson @jnjcares Our bodies weren’t made to sit all day, however the sitting state is almost inevitable — in the car, at the desk, on the couch or in meetings. Sitting is what we do the majority of our days, and doing it all day takes a toll on our bodies and can increase your risk for heart disease. But how do we avoid the urge to sit? Learn from Samantha Hand, who took control of
how much she was sitting and developed a plan to counteract its negative effects. By incorporating more movement into her workday, she upped her daily activity and lessened the amount of time she was sitting. She will share her strategies for making this change so you too can get your “sit” together.

Get answers to all these questions and participate in a short how-to exercise so you can independently interpret product labels and make smart, informed decisions about what you put in your mouth.
