4 Created by Georgina Berg for Herordshire Community NHS Trust— February 2018 Sterilisaon of feeding equipment Cold water sterilisaon Wash hands .Clean boles & teats in hot soapy water using a brush Rinse all equipment in cold running water before sterilisaon Change sterilising soluon every 24 hours Equipment should be plunged into the soluon for at least 30 minutes Steam sterilisaon Follow manufacturers instrucons All equipment should be faced down Follow manufacturers instrucons as to how long equipment may be le in the sterilising unit before use Sterilising by boiling Remember safety Boil equipment for at least 10 minutes ensuring that all equipment is under the water It is best to remove boles just before use Boles that are not being used may be put together fully with the teat inside to prevent contaminaon.
