Tuition Fee Loans 2015-16
Study Repayable
The Tuition Fee Loan is paid directly to the University, by the individual or Student Finance England.

Maintenance Loans 2015-16
Maintenance loans are for day to day costs – typically accommodation, travel, domestic bills etc. They are paid in three instalments (one each term).

Interest Rates
Student Loans accrue interest from the moment you take them out, but the amount you repay remains the same – 9% of your income over £21,000.

For students from household incomes of less than £25,000
Applicants must meet certain government criteria, although this does not guarantee an award. Applications will assessed against the criteria and then ranked based on need.
Exclusions apply for the BU Maintenance Bursaries – fixed number of bursaries available.

The NHS Student Bursaries Department facilitate a non-repayable Social Work Bursary for UK Social Work students from HCPC
Students will be eligible to apply for a bursary in their SECOND and THIRD years of study only Support you during your 100-day placements each year
Students will be eligible for up to £4,575 per annum and is intended to assist with tuition fees, travel and maintenance Number of bursaries will be capped so you are not guaranteed a bursary If you do not receive a bursary you will still be eligible for a placement allowance
