The Skies are the Limit Last week we told you Philip Newman-Hall of Le Manoir AuxQuatSaisons was bravely (some might say foolishly) going to perform atandem parachute jump from 10000 feet The aim is to achievesponsorship in the region of pound10000 in aid of Hospitality Action Philiptold me yesterday the response had been terrific and funding to date wasjust over pound4000 We did discuss what happened if he didnrsquot reach hisgoal On the basis he was doing the jump at a pound1 per foot would he haveto suspend himself in mid-air until such time as sufficient funds weredonated It seems unlikely this will be the case but please keep thedonations coming Thank you
Oceans of WasteA recent report in a respected scientific journal indicated thatwasterubbish produced by humans had been found in every ocean andsea in the world Predominantly plastic we have even managed tocontaminate areas of the sea bed that is so deep it cannot support manyforms of life Comforting isnrsquot it that we have managed through our cavalierapproach to waste to reach the parts of the universe that other lesscontaminating materials have failed to penetrate
