MY SCHOOL ONLINE(DISTANCE
LEARNING)Beginning August 31st through October 2nd, all students will be attending school remotely via My School Online. Transition to Schoolhouse learning is dependent upon improved community conditions (Stage II).
What is My School Online?
My School Online (MSO) is Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ (M-DCPS) Distance Learning option for those students in grades K-12 who wish to continue their education full-time through innovative learning environments but still maintain their enrollment status at their brick and mortar schools.

✓ We are proceeding to a PK-12 curriculum delivered digitally
✓ Student Portal access via www.dadeschools.net
✓ The program includes support for English Language Learners, Special Education, Gifted, Intervention, etc.
✓ Teachers will conduct face-to-face instruction via video/Newrow
✓ Therapy and/or counseling services will be provided digitally
✓ The new platform has a way to communicate between the home and the teacher, share daily/weekly schedule information and upload student assignments.
✓ Digital resources from the student portal or will also be utilized (i.e. i-Ready)
My school online (K12) will be the platform for all core classes
and some electives/specials
Some Middle School electives will take place on Microsoft Teams.
Your assigned teacher will communicate with you what platform
they will be using.
MY SCHOOL ONLINE ATTENDANCE
MSO will follow established District attendance protocols and procedures as defined in School Board Policy, 5200 – Attendance. Parents and students are responsible for attendance which shall be required of all students during the days and hours that school is in session.
While enrolled in My School Online, students are expected to:
Log into live sessions with their teachers each and every scheduled school day.
Attend online class as scheduled.
Be prepared to start online classes on time.
Demonstrate appropriate digital citizenship behavior while online.
Have your cameras on for attendance.
Wear your school polo shirt (Royal Blue or Burgundy) when attending a live session with your teacher.
SCHOOL ATTENDANCE/TARDY
Daily school attendance will be taken every scheduled school day during the
students’ first class of the day and/or the first period of the day.
Students will be counted in attendance if they log into the live sessions with
their teachers. Students will log into their teacher’s live session at the
beginning of the school day/first period of the day and must enable the
camera function on their computers so that the teacher can identify them.
Students who log into K12 to do their daily assignments but do not log into the
live sessions with their teachers may be marked as absent.
Students must log into their teacher’s live sessions with their teachers at the
time determined by their school. Students who do not log into the live sessions
with their teachers at the predetermined time may be marked as tardy. A
student is considered tardy to class if the student is not present at the moment
the attendance is taken.
EXCUSED/UNEXCUSED CLASS ABSENCE
Absences shall be reported to our registrar by the parent no later than five days from the date of the absence. Parents should submit documentation (a parent note) in the form of an email detailing the reason for the child’s absence from a day to [email protected]
Failure to report and explain the absence(s) shall result in unexcused absence(s). The principal of the student’s home/enrolled school shall have the final authority for determining acceptability of the reason for the absence(s).
SCHOOL UNIFORMSElementary
Uniform tops will be required daily as specified for our virtual school program (Phase 1).
The following are acceptable uniforms:
Royal blue/burgundy polo
School Logo (Logo required for Phase 2)
Khaki pants (required for Phase 2)
Closed shoes are required
Spirit Shirt may be worn on Fridays

SCHEDULE
Daily School Schedule In MSO, the student’s day will
mirror that of their Schoolhouse peers. Students will follow their class schedules and classes. Morning announcements will occur during the first 15 minutes of the day. Official school attendance will be recorded and maintained for each class.
Student Schedules Student course schedules will
be posted on the Parent and Student Portals and the District’s Mobile App. Students may log into the Student Portal or mobile app to access their schedule, and parents may access their child’s schedule through the Parent Portal or mobile app by logging in using their assigned PIN.

EXPECTATIONS
Be ready for learning
Log in as required for each session
Video on, microphones muted, respectful of others, positive behavior at all times
No background noises such as a TV, music, phone conversations, etc.
Students will engage in class and learn about hand-raising, how to answer questions, etc.
Our goal is to use a blend of relevant/creative assignments and teacher selected work to be completed either online and/or via special projects

Parent Portal / Title I Services
Parents/guardians of all Miami-Dade County Public
Schools students have access to the Parent Portal. In
order to access the information in the portal, you must first
establish a parent user account. At that time, parents will
be able to view personal student information - including
grades, attendance, and bus route information, and have
access to the Parent Resource link, which leads to sites
such as Parent Academy, and Schools of Choice.
Parents will also have access to electronic gradebook for
each subject, and free and reduced lunch applications with
balance renewal capability.

Teachers using other programs such as Class Dojo or Remind will provide that information to families.
Laptops will be issued on a District loan basis to students who need them.
