The flutes of Sarah Allen and Brian Finnegan swirl and soar with captivating brilliance over the rhythmic bedrock of Ed Boyd on guitar and bodhran master John Joe Kelly, all combining to produce in Flook’s own distinctively exciting and innovative sound. They are now back playing live and firing explosively on all four cylinders.

Nominated Best Original Song ‘None the Wiser’ BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014

Songwriter of the Year – Spiral Earth Awards 2014

Folk Singer of the Year & Best Original Song ‘Hollow Point’ BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011

One of England’s most vivid and arresting song writers; with gentle intelligence he weaves the tradition with his own contemporary parables. Hollow Point is his chilling ballad of the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezez and Wood’s feel for the sheer “one thing after another-ness” of life allows us, for the first time, to see the event through the eyes of the victim. None The Wiser his fourth solo album delivers humble hymns and sweeping statements from Alzheimers to William Blake.

OUR HEROES The Gallery Bar Monday 4 August – Tuesday 11 November Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm Admission free

The First World War (1914–1918) touched the lives of everyone in Great Britain and marked a period of great change for the country.

Our Heroes illustrates how the ‘Great War’, as it became known, affected the lives of the men, women and young people who lived in the towns and villages that are today part of Trafford. It gives a brief insight into their personal contribution and the sacrifices they made, whether in the field of conflict, or on the Home Front.

Using original photographs, archives and memorabilia from the period we can reveal some of the personal, often poignant stories which have remained hidden for over 100 years.
