One of the nation's largest Boy Scouts of America councils, the Baltimore Area Council also serves as one of the Boy Scouts' oldest councils and possesses a history going back nearly a century.
About the Baltimore Area Council
A very active entity, the Baltimore Area Council consists of a 70-person staff and 65 board members. Throughout its existence, the Baltimore Area Council has partnered with more than 700 local groups to support more than 900 Scouting units across 13 districts. Today, this branch of the national organization holds responsibility for 36,000 potential campers, as well as 15,000 adult volunteers who dedicate their time to the body.
Strategic Plan: 2012–2016
In 2012, the Baltimore Area Council introduced its strategic plan for 2012 to 2016. Based on seven key ideas known as “pillars,” this five-year plan focuses on concepts such as “Improving Impact and Participation,” “Building Excellence in Leadership and Culture,” and “Leveraging Innovation and Technology.” Click on www.baltimorebsa.org to review the new Strategic Plan.
