With an inexperienced lineup, the team got off to a slow start, especially aſter the loss of senior Ethan Andersen to an injury. Sophomore quarterbacks Joseph Raun and omas Robertson stepped into the position for the underbolts. Senior linebacker Jakob Andreasen said, “We would go to Alex Kerr’s house aſter film on Saturdays to eat breakfast, which was a really fun tradition for us.” e underbolts made a mark in their final season in Class B by winning Districts against ranked Beatrice. Using their momentum, the Bolts shut out No. 7 Northwest in the first-round of the playoffs. In the state quarterfinals, the underbolts fell to the defending state champions, Skutt Catholic. Head Coach Tim Aylward retired as coach aſter dedicating 31 years to the Pius X football program. He reflected on his final season, “It was a good year, strong senior leadership set a goal to get to playoffs and it’s really neat to achieve that.” FOURTH DOWN CELEBRATION During the first round of the state playoffs, the underbolts’ offense celebrates a fourth down conversion run by senior Jakob Andreasen to continue the scoring drive. e Bolts’ offense went on to score 14 points on the Northwest defense with touchdowns by Andreasen and sophomore Christopher Cassidy. Newfound senior leadership led the youthful Bolts to a successful season.
