Your Safety Is Our ConcernThe Do’s and Don’ts when workingnear BPA’s buried pipelines

BPA manages buried fuel pipelines carrying highly fl ammable / explosive petroleum products or natural gas at very high pressures (up to 100bar).

The pipelines are designed to meet these internal pressures but are verysusceptible to external damage even from hand tools, and their depth of cover is often less than 1 metre. Damage caused to the pipeline could prove not only very costly - but potentially fatal.

It is an unfortunate fact that the majority of pipeline incidents around the world are caused by the owners (or occupiers)of the land through which the pipelineruns, undertaking routine works – with ditching, fencing, land drainage and mole ploughing running the highest risk of causing catastrophic damage (though the risk also extends to subsoiling and even the installation or repair of below ground pipes and cables).

If working anywhere near the pipeline please call BPA – FREE! We will come and locate the pipeline, ensuring your safety – at NO COST to you.

pipeline operator in accordance with the provisions of the Deeds of Grant/Lease and the Pipeline Safety Regulations Act 1996.

Avoid delays BPA is empowered to, and will stop all works near the pipeline if it is considered to be unsafe to the pipeline.

In short, the potential for serious consequence is high if work around fuel pipelines goes wrong.
