During El-Nino event, the water mass in northern Papua is dominated by the South Pacific type water, characterized with Smax = 35.4 at σ = 25.
IRJA-1992 (June-Aug 1992)
During neutral condition, the water mass in northern Papua is mixed with South Pacific type water, characterized with Smax = 35.4 at σ = 25, and North Pacific water with Smin=34.45 at σ = 26.5.

Closing Remarks• BPPT Research Vessels have been operated and
performed some significant research all over Indonesian waters
• The existing oceanographic data reveal some results the complicated seasonal variability of the water masses distribution Further analysis is on going
• Indonesian water plays an important role in exploring ENSO, IOD and MJO require sustained survey and observation
• BPPT is ready to support the implementation of YMC
