Celebrate your special day at Brantwood, the historic home of John Ruskin from 1872 until 1900. Overlooking Coniston

Water Brantwood truly is a special place. Choose from the Drawing Room, looking almost as it was when Ruskin lived, or

the Severn Studio, Brantwood’s refurbished Edwardian Artists’ studio that hosts a number of local, national and

international exhibitions throughout the year. For smaller weddings we have the Annexe, located off the Drawing Room,

or the Perch, located in Brantwood’s stunning upper floor apartment, as well as the Study, located off the main hall. With

all options guests are free to explore the house and gardens with exclusive use of Brantwood after the ceremony.

To complement your experience there is the option of staying in our self-catering accommodation prior to or following the

ceremony. With room for up to 11 guests the Lodge & Eyrie provide a superb setting for you and your family. Our

restaurant is also able to provide drinks and catering on site and on the National Trust’s Steam Yacht Gondola. Newly

refurbished, our restaurant is the perfect setting for your wedding breakfast or reception.

All potential wedding couples are welcome to a tour of the house, gardens and wedding locations. We hope this pack

Wedding in the Study - £540

▪ Located in the Eyrie, Brantwood’s upper floor apartment, the perch can accommodate 10 people seated

▪ Drinks and canapés can be served after the ceremony by arrangement with our restaurant in the apartment.

Arrive in Style For an extra special experience cruise arrangements can be made to Brantwood’s jetty. Passengers can embark at Brantwood Jetty either prior to or following

the ceremony.

Gondola

Float back in time and enjoy Coniston Water as the wealthy Victorians

once did, travelling in style in Gondola’s opulent saloons or relaxing on her

open air decks and taking in the spectacular scenery. What better way to

celebrate your special occasion at Brantwood than a private cruise with

family and friends to make your day truly memorable.

Gondola has a luxurious ambience recreating the atmosphere of a bygone

era. The interior of the boat is divided into two saloons reflecting Victorian

trains from the Furness Railway: a first class saloon with luxuriously

upholstered seating and a ‘third’ class saloon with a rich mahogany ceiling

and leather upholstery. Gondola has inside seating capacity for 50 and a

total carrying capacity of 86 passengers. When catering is provided, the

maximum number of passengers recommended is 50. The central seating

in the saloons can be turned into tables for catering - the seating is fixed

‘bench’ seating around the perimeter of the saloons. To complement your

cruising experience canapés and drinks are available to order through our

restaurant. Please note that only cold buffets can be provided. If hot

drinks are required, flasks will be made available.

Coniston Launch

Why not make your important day more special by taking a launch cruise

on beautiful Coniston Water in the Lake District? Launches are available to

hire from 5.30pm (or earlier in winter months) from any jetty you choose.

Treat your guests, and yourselves, to a sip of champagne on board as you

take in the beautiful scenery of the fells and lake.

The Lodge & Eyrie

Enjoy the superb setting which inspired John Ruskin.

Recently renovated, self-catering accommodation is available as a holiday

let at Brantwood.

Situated on the upper floor, the ‘Eyrie’ is a self-catering apartment for two

with spectacular lake views over Coniston Water and to the Lake District

fells beyond. It has beautiful interiors with original artworks and is

furnished to the highest standard for a comfortable stay.

The holiday accommodation comprises one double bedroom, large well

equipped kitchen/diner, a Drawing Room and a spacious bathroom with

one of the best views in the Lake District. Access is via outside steps,

leading onto the gardens and woodland of Brantwood’s 250 acre estate.

This apartment is perfect for the wedding couple.

Our delightful detached Lodge house is a 5 bedroom holiday cottage with

spectacular views of Coniston Water in the heart of the South Lakes.

The Lodge is recently refurbished and comprises 2 double bedrooms, two

twin bedrooms and a single; a large kitchen-dining-sitting room with wood

burning stove; 2 shower rooms, a bathroom and another separate loo;

drying room; patio area. Four of the five bedrooms look out across the lake

and have spectacular views. Ideal for family/friends up to 9 people.

The Lodge is centrally heated and a generous supply of logs is provided for

the wood burning stove. Facilities include bed linen and towels, colour TV

with CD and DVD player. Kayaks, canoes and small sailing dinghies can be

launched from our shore.

Please note that unfortunately pets are not allowed in the

accommodation.

The Terrace Coffee House and Restaurant

With our own restaurant we can cater for all your food and drink needs here at Brantwood. The options available are just a selection of what we can offer,

and we are open to your ideas and requests.

The restaurant area has been newly refurbished and is ideal for serving wedding breakfasts. The loft space above the restaurant also provides a perfect setting

for receptions and buffets for up to 60 guests.

For wedding breakfasts, we recommend that you choose up to 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 desserts to make sure that your day runs as smoothly as possible.

With the buffets and canapés feel free to choose as many (or as few) as you like. If there is anything off-menu that you would like please get in touch. If

needed we can arrange a meeting with one of our restaurant team to discuss your options as well as any other questions or issues you may have. Further

meetings can be arranged to finalise your menu or discuss decoration arrangements.

Dietary Requirements & Catering for Children

For guests with dietary requirements we can create different versions of

each dish or provide an alternative. For children (3+) we can offer smaller

portions or a child friendly dish.

Flower Arrangements

Brantwood is happy to provide flower arrangements for the ceremony room using seasonal flowers from

our 250 acre estate, at no additional cost. A quote for bouquets and buttonholes can be provided. Our

wedding couples are welcome to decorate with extra floral arrangements if they wish, there are however

restrictions within the historic rooms in the house.

Next Steps

Once you have chosen Brantwood for your wedding venue please get in touch and we will send out a booking form. Once this is complete and a date is

pencilled in with us, you will need to contact your local registration office and provide them with the information, ensuring that a registrar is available to

conduct your ceremony. Once this is confirmed, 10% of the ceremony room costs are taken, and the booking is fixed into our wedding diary. We can then talk

further about all the options we can offer and plan out your perfect day.

Visiting Brantwood

So that we can get a better idea of what you are looking for a visit to Brantwood is recommended. You can explore the house, gardens and restaurant to get a

feel for Brantwood. It also gives you an opportunity to have a trip on the Gondola or Coniston Launch.

Brantwood is open all year round. Usual opening times are daily 10.30 until 5.00pm, winter (mid-November until mid-March) opening hours are Wednesday

to Sunday 10.30am until 4.00pm

Directions To Brantwood

By Car – Exit the M6 at Junction 36. Join the A590 in the direction of Kendal. Exit at the Brettargh Holt junction. At the roundabout take the 1st exit signposted

for Barrow-in-Furness. Continue to follow the signs for Barrow-in-Furness. At the Meathop roundabout take the second junction exit towards Barrow-in-

Furness. At the next roundabout (junction with A592) take the first exit continuing on the A590. Turn right onto the A5902 signposted for Workington,

Whitehaven. Turn right onto the A5084 signposted for Coniston. Turn right onto the A593 in Torver. Follow the signs for Brantwood from the village of

Coniston.

By Bus – Take the 505 from Windermere or Ambleside to Coniston and catch either the Coniston Launch or SY Gondola to Brantwood.

By Boat – Both the Coniston Launch and SY Gondola call regularly at Brantwood’s jetty.

By Train – The nearest train stations are Windermere (trains to Oxenholme on the West Coast Main Line) and Ulverston.
