Ekonomic and employmentAlthough the Bratislava Region is thesmallest of the 8 Slovak catchmentregions, it has by far the greatestshare in the gross domestic revenueof the country – more than 25 percent. Various industrial centres havedeveloped in the region. An international automobile clusterhas developed in the Bratislava area, comprising the car plants ofVolkswagen and PSA. The chemical, food and electronic industries are alsodoing well here. However, Bratislava is the only regionin Slovakia where the sector ofservices and trade account for more ofthe GDP than the sector of industry. More than 75 percent of the populationof Bratislava work in the tertiarysector, which is comparable to datafrom advanced regions of other EU member states.
