Challenges Monitor and evaluate NBSAP implementation and identify gender-responsive actions. Understand how gender-responsive actions target women. Analyze the progress and efficiency of actions targeting women. Identify opportunities to mainstream gender during the implementation of the Brazilian NBSAP. Actions taken We included gender questions in the UNDP 6NR data tracking tool. We asked whether activities related to gender equality are part of the implementation plan, and which type of activities are planned. The tracking tool was shared with managers responsible for the implementation of NBSAP actions. After receiving the report from managers, the information provided in the UNDP 6NR data tracking tool was used to identify gender-responsive actions and analyze its progress and efficiency. The language of proposed activities targeting gender equality was used to classify gender-responsive actions according to how women are viewed. We base the assessment on the IUCN Women’s participation and gender considerations in country representation, planning and reporting to the BRS Conventions. Solutions Included gender as a cross-cutting issue during the meetings to plan the 6th National Report. Developed a strategy to collect information on gender mainstreaming in the implementation of the Brazilian NBSAP. Included gender-related questions in the 6NR data tracking tool. Outcomes 731 actions spanning all Aichi Targets were evaluated by project managers responsible for their implementation. Of these 89 actions, or 12%, were reported to be gender responsive. Preliminary management report shows that 6% of gender-responsive actions have been concluded, 60% are actively under implementation, 21% are in the planning stage or early implementation, and 13 % have not started yet. The majority of actions target women as stakeholders (34%), followed by beneficiaries (20%), agents of change (16%) and a vulnerable group (8%).
