Amos Martial Arts is an established Grappling, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai & Wrestling Academy.

Amos Martial Arts was established by Ash Amos, who is the owner of the Academy.

Ash is 5 times British Jiu Jitsu Champion and European Champion whilst also having 2 wins at the world’s premier Jiu Jitsu promotion Polaris. Ash has stellar coaching credentials with a string of gold medallists and competition winners within his adult male & female gym but also, he has coached a number of junior competitors in the last year and has already developed a current junior European Champion and World runner up in Finn Carey.

This enables Ash to be able to command huge respect and a long list of clients looking to join his academy and benefit from his coaching that is second to none. Ash specialises in grappling which is a mixture of Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. Having competed all over the world and coached professional fighters Ash has a wealth of experience and industry respect.

There are 12 sessions a week. Students can attend as many sessions as they like for their monthly subscription. We offer more classes than any other gym and offer a Judo and Wrestling session too ,ensuring we are the market leaders for Jiu Jitsu in the locality.

The club caters for all levels whether you are a beginner or more advanced.

The first and most important rule at the club is mat hygiene. Keeping the mats clean and free of germs is paramount to a successful club. It is a club rule that if you are off the mat you are not bare feet. We suggest bringing a pair of sliders or flip flops to wear that can be left at the side of the mat allowing you to slip them on and off easily if you have to come off the mat.

Finger and toe nails are to be kept clean and trimmed at all times for training to avoid unnecessary germs and injuries caused by nails.

If you have any marks or rashes you need to inform Ash so he can advise whether you can train with it.

It is vital your kit is clean for every session.No zips allowed on any kit.

The monthly membership fee is either £50 per month via direct debit or £7 per session.

We are delighted to have Kru Helm as our Muay Thai coach. Kru is striking coach of Tillery Combat working with the likes of Jack Shore & Josh Reed. Due to Ash’s close relationship with Tillery Combat he has been able to secure Kru’s services.

Julian Hiscock is our Judo coach. Like Ash he is a black belt in Judo and his sessions are very popular with our members with

his excellent coaching style, meaning members can improve significantly and quickly in the discipline of Judo.

Being able to offer multiple martial arts is something the club has always aspired to do. Now being able to offer Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai & Wrestling the club is without doubt the best and most diverse martial art club in the Torfaen area with a coach that is better than any other in Wales. Whatever discipline, they are all designed for the complete beginner, an intermediate all the way up to a professional meaning that every need is catered for.

Head coach Ash Amos prides himself on being a mentor for all his members. Having been a teacher for 4 years until giving up his profession to pursue his dream of running his own martial arts academy Ash has the skill set to deal with all situations in a professional and understanding manner. Whatever your reason is to train, whether it is a lifestyle choice, anti-bullying, you want to be part of a team, you want to compete or if it’s a mixture of everything then Amos Martial Arts is the place for you. Ash is ably assisted in the children’s coaching by Lara Brain (picture above) who is an excellent coach in her own right and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu. As a PE teacher Lara has years of expertise dealing with the younger generation and her ability to get the best out of all the youngsters is testament to her patience and ability to coach at all levels. Lara is very well respected in the jiujitsu community in her own right and is a massive asset to the club.

The junior and children section is a huge part of our club and we are very excited to continue growing it and having one of the best if not the best one in the country in the coming months and years.

There are many reasons and benefits for children to join a martial arts gym to take up Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, Wrestling or all of the above.

It has long been argued that Jiu Jitsu is the best martial art for self-defence. Even more so when used with the other martial arts available at Amos Martial Arts, including Judo, Wrestling & Muay Thai, it can give you the self-belief to know that you will be able to defend yourself in any situation. In this day and age self-defence has never been so prevalent and one of the main drivers for the club is to give all members the ability to be able to defend themselves and have confidence in their selves.

Members find a much greater ability to concentrate for longer periods but also being part of this martial arts club, junior members’ success in school is very important to the club and is encouraged daily.

So many people use martial arts as a way to control or reduce their weight. Whether that is just a lifestyle choice or due to a medical condition you will be able to be in control of your weight and enjoy an environment that makes it fun.

At Amos Martial Arts each lesson is differentiated for all abilities catering for complete beginners up to professional athletes. Having a training program that can meet all needs is vital in any successful martial arts academy.
