Let’s get a big picture of what we’ll be learning today…

In this session, we will look at one of the greatest heroes in the Bible - Noah. We will discover that when we learn to listen carefully to God’s voice and when we’re willing to stand out in the crowd, God can use us to make a difference for His Kingdom!

VIDEO NOTESONE PERSON CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE (Genesis 6:5-8) “The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.”

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1) The message that centered on Noah’s life was that he was a difference maker. Think of ONE person that has really made a difference in your life. What did that person do to make such an impact? Share with your group.

2) To be a difference maker, we must be unafraid to stand out in a crowd and be willing to do something that has never been done. Noah spent 120 years building the ark during a time when the earth never experienced a single drop of rain. Imagine how he felt day after day, believing and trusting God for something he knew would come true. What is something in your life that you’ve been believing God for and how do you remain encouraged in that promise? Share with your group.

3) “The Lord then said to Noah, ‘Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.’” (Genesis 7:1)

In the video message, we learned that we have the ability to make a difference in our family. Because Noah found favor with God, so did his family. The greek word “oikos” means “to impact your sphere of influence.” This allows us to see the importance of our sphere of influence amongst our family, friends, and piers. What can you do to influence your family, friends, and piers around you for the benefit of God? Share ONE with your group. (i.e. Pray for them, encourage them, serve them, etc.)

4) “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Noah always knew that God was with him. In this scripture, the Lord Jesus promises us the same thing in every situation, in every circumstance, in every season. Can you think of a time when you knew that God was helping you through a situation? How did he help you? Share with your group.

At this time, please break into smaller groups of 2-4 for the discussion question section. Have a great discussion!

Take a few minutes to close your time together with prayer and to pray for each other’s prayer requests. Below is a sample prayer to read if you choose to. You can also choose to write down each other’s prayer requests to remember throughout the week.

Sample Prayer:“Lord, thank You for inspiring us with story of Your son, Noah. We are so grateful that we can use him as an example of what being boldly faithful and obedient to You looks like in action. Lord we pray that in the same way as Noah, that we would make ourselves available to do Your work so that we can make an eternal difference for those around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

In order to be a difference maker, we must be able to hear God speak. This comes from having a close relationship with Him.

This week, commit to doing the following:

- Complete the 4 devotional entry pages

- Spend more time praying and write down some of the things He’s speaking to You.
