DEDICATION

• If an event promotes or raises funds for Cystic Fibrosis, Brenda is “in”

• If there isn’t an event in the works, Brenda will make one

• If there is an opportunity to educate and increase awareness, Brenda will seize it

• If there could only be one “champion” of the cause, Brenda would be crowned

• Brenda holds with her the pain of those we’ve lost, right next to the heart she uses to continue to fight

A Cure Requires Action & Awareness

BRENDA

What Others Have To Say...

“Brenda is currently a board member of the Cystic Fibrosis Canada-Kitchener-Waterloo and District Chapter as well as sitting on the Board of Cystic Fibrosis Canada as the National Kin/CF Liaison. This position is not given lightly. There is an application process and an election and only those that are most qualified get chosen. Brenda ran one other year and was not the best qualified candidate but this did not stop her passion to serve, instead it fueled her. She joined our board at that time to get more informed on the daily running’s of a chapter associated with Cystic Fibrosis Canada and ran a couple of years later. Brenda’s commitment to her home club by far exceeds that of many members in Kin Canada. She attends most if not all the events, chairs any that need a chair, attends most if not all work parties prior to events, and I have never heard her utter one ill word about the association even when there was great chatter all around. If you could take a snap shot of one person and say “this is what commitment to a service club and a charity looks like” that photo would be of Brenda Dineen. If you ran a campaign not in her own district but in any district I am sure they would all agree. Brenda attends National conventions. Spring conventions, Fall leadership conventions, Cystic Fibrosis Canada round tables, board meetings and all of their Conventions. She teaches at a local school, is a grandmother that is very involved with her grandchildren., a wife, a mother and best friend to many. This award was designed to honour people but I believe it was designed to honour Brenda.”~Sue House, KW Chapter

The Michael McBeath Memorial Cystic Fibrosis Award for Individual Achievement Nominee: Brenda Dineen-Kinette Club of Palmerston & District To Whom It May Concern, I write this letter to support the Kinette Club of Palmerston’s nomination of Brenda Dineen as the recipient of this award. Brenda has demonstrated, time and again, year after year, her commitment to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis at the club, zone, district and national levels. Her unwavering commitment is unparalleled. I have had the opportunity to work with Brenda, not only on projects but also district and national initiatives. Brenda has been able to inspire countless others to assist in raising funds and awareness of the plight of people afflicted with cystic fibrosis. The questions posed are answered with ‘yes we can’ instead of looking for roadblocks. Brenda has grown over the years from a shy, timid wallflower to a champion of the cause. I have witnessed this transformation, time and again, to see her stand tall at a podium and excite a room full of people to continue to fight this fight, until we have found a cure. Her countless years and selfless acts have demonstrated to me, that she is committed, confident that a cure will be found and willing to go to great lengths to achieve the outcome. I am personally familiar with the pain and suffering that is caused by cystic fibrosis. Although Brenda has no familial connection to cystic fibrosis, she did adopt a young lady with cystic fibrosis. A bond so close, that after tests for compatibility concluded a match, offered to donate a kidney. That speaks commitment to me. I have known many of the recipients of this award; it was created by my home club in the 1998/ 1999 Kin year. When you talk about individual achievement, I am surprised that Brenda’s name does not adorn the banner already. To me, the choice is obvious, Brenda is not in this fight for the accolades, she has paid the dues and it is time to recognize Brenda those achievements! Respectfully submitted by; Bruce Lloyd, Fergus & District Kinsmen

The Kind of Thing That Sets Her Apart...

Brenda Dineen is a hero. Deeply committed, passionate, dedicated and loyal to the fight for a cure. She is the epitome of what the Michael McBeath Award is about.

Brenda knows that Cystic Fibrosis awareness is not just for the general public. She is always giving her fellow members a subtle education. Sometimes those lessons come in the way of milestone announcements, latest discoveries or recent accomplishments. Sometimes it’s to correct our information, as she is always in the loop with the most current data. Sometimes, it’s just providing us with limitless knowledge and a boost of “we need to do this!” that we’ve come to expect from Brenda when it comes to fighting this disease.

What sets her apart is that she truly walks the talk. She supports every event she possibly can with her assistance, organization or attendance. If it’s for Cystic Fibrosis, she’s there. Even if that means sacrificing one of her own organs.

She never needs credit or a spotlight; she prefers to work behind the scenes. In fact, we’ll probably have our butts fined for submitting this award for her. Sorry, OB... You deserve it too much.

Love,Your Club

You can tell us where to go, Brenda. It was SO worth it.
