What is Bridge Project? Bridge Project is a co-host project between AIESEC in Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University’s Voluntary Engineering Students Camp (VESC). The project classified as Global communities Development Program (GCDP) in AIESEC. Its objective is to provide youth all around the globe an opportunity to be exposed to Thai culture, values and heritages, creating mutual understanding between individuals from various background while giving another opportunity to others who need through an annual rural area development camp, VESC.

In this project, an exchange participant will be attending 6 weeks program consists of 2 sections: At least 3 weeks in VESC hosted, this year, in Muang bangyom, Sawankalok, Sukhothai (Find Sukhothai - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhothai_Province) and the rest of the program in Bangkok (Find Sukhothai - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok).

AIESEC in Chulalongkorn University and VESC are calling for you to take part in our team as a labor

force helping us, as well as, the villagers to bring prosperity to the community (Students studying in the 4th year of Engineering degree or higher will be allowed to involve in the planning process) while experiencing life of local students life in Thailand’s top university. The program duration can be varied between March 11th and May 30th, 2013.

*Realization duration must be 6 weeks in total. **First day of arrival will be counted as the first day of realization.

What is VESC?

VESC (Voluntary Engineering Students Camp) is an annual voluntary camp organized by Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University’s students aiming to help develop and provide an insufficient area with basic public utilities, usually a bridge for transportation. However, this year, the program is going to construct a water supply system in the area.

What did VESC do?

Of course, Voluntary Engineering Students Camp (VESC) has continued several projects to construct needed facilities in many rural areas all over Thailand. However, the student camp has never been all about construction but a lesson about friendship, love, life and survival.

Life in the camp?

Only basic facilities are provided during the camp (VESC). Exchange Participants will get REAL rural experience with few necessities.

Working Atmosphere: Volunteers (Exchange Participants will be regarded as typical volunteers) will be divided into 5-10 groups with one of engineering senior student as a team leader. The team will take turn doing these duties:

-Leveling the land

-Piping work

-Cementing

-Other construction work

Working Hours: Working hour will take approximately 8 hours a day.

Food: Food is provided at the camp. Volunteers cook with their teams, taking turns preparing meals for the whole group.

Who will you be working with?

Volunteers will work alongside senior students in engineering, Thai students, and other international volunteers

Life in Bangkok?

Bangkok has been said to be a city of life, the Thai’s center of culture, politics and economics. An exchange participant will spend three weeks when they are not in the camp in Sukhothai here.

During this period, an Exchange Participant will be allowed to exercise their time freely and enjoy their life as the local under the program’s regulations. An Exchange Participant will be assigned one buddy (Chulalongkorn University’s student) acting as friend, counselor, caretaker, and liaison as well as performing task as a coordinator between an Exchange Participant and the program.

We provide you standard accommodation where you can sleep tight at a cost of $100 for a whole program.

What do we provide?

INSURANCE covers only the period in VESC.

ACCOMODATION is provided at cost of $100 for a whole program (International Money Transfer fee excluded). Host family is likely to be provided.

TRANSPORTATION to VESC in Sukhothai is provided. Others are excluded.

FOOD is provided on the camp. Exchange Participants are to be responsible for their own meal while they are in Bangkok.

Qualifications

Undergraduate students – anyone aging less than 25 years old Senior students in engineering will be allowed to involve in planning process Exchange Participants must be:

Comfortable with working long hours in extreme temperature, Be a team player Do fine with dirt Be in excellent health and fitness (Only first aid facilities will be provided in

the camp)

How to apply?

1. Download the application package and e-mail the completed application form to [email protected]. The application deadline is February 15th, 2013. Our contact person will contact you regarding interview arrangement within 7 days after the arrival of a completed application.

2. Schedule an interview date and time. The interview will be arranged according to - Order of applications: An interview will be arranged on the first come first

serve basis, early applicants will be granted the right to choose the date and time first.

- Date of arrival/realization: Interview periods are divided into 2 rounds depending on the date of realization.

o 1st Round Interview: 21st-25th January 2013 for an interviewee whose arrival date is between 11st March -11th April 2013

o 2nd Round Interview: 18th-22nd February 2013 for an interviewee whose arrival date is between 16st April -19h April 2013

o First day of arrival is the first day of realization. o Arrival during Songkran Day (12nd -15th April 2013) and after 19h April

2013 is NOT permitted.
