LAMP interpreters complete Bridging the Gap, a 40 hour training for medical interpreting. This is a nationally recog-nized training that was developed by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program in Seattle, WA.

The course covers:

Roles of the interpreter, code of ethics and managing the flow of the session.

Information on the U.S. health care system, anatomy and basic medical procedures.

Culture in interpreting, culture bro-kering and traditional healthcare.

Communication skills.

Professional development.

A certificate of successful completion is given to all participants who attend the course and pass a final test.
