BRIEF RESUME

Dr S K Chauhan has been a Professor & Head (Agricultural Economics) Cum Nodal officer to

Education Division of ICAR, New Delhi at CSK HPKV, Palampur. He has more than 34 years

of UG/PG teaching and research experience. He has taught number of courses to UG and PG

students since 1987. He has been convener of experiential learning programme on Agri-

business Management to RAWE students of B.Sc. (Hon.) Agriculture 4-year degree

programme. Besides, he has been advisor to 131 UG students of B. Sc (Hons.) Agriculture

four-year degree programme for 9 different batches from 1988 to 2014 of. Thereafter, he has

been tutor to 70 UG students of B. Sc (Hons.) Agriculture four-year degree programme for

2014-18 batch. He has guided 11 students for Master degree and three students for Doctoral

degree theses as major guide and acted as co-guide to 40 other M.Sc. & Ph. D students. He has

completed 29 (19 as Principal Investigator and 10 as Co-Principal Investigator) nationally and

internationally funded research projects in the area of Irrigation development, livestock,

apiculture, sericulture, agricultural technology & crop diversification in tribal areas of trans-

Himalayan regions and field crops of mountain areas, etc. He has been the author of 2 books

entitled “Economics of sheep farming” and “Equine husbandry in the mountains”. Besides, he

has brought two manuals for teaching undergraduate courses in Agribusiness management and

Project formulation, monitoring & evaluation. He has been one of the authors for developing

guidelines to farmers with respect to working out costs and returns for high value crops and

enterprises. He has participated in 38 national and international conferences/seminars and

attended 10 refresher courses cum summer schools. There are 132 research papers cum book

chapters to his credit in various journals & books of repute. He has also bought 10 popular

articles published in journals/magazines meant for farmers & entrepreneurs. Dr Chauhan has

delivered 156 extension lectures to farmers, KVK scientists, RAWE students, trainees; self

help group members, PRI representatives, etc. Dr Chauhan has been a member secretary of

Project Monitoring and Evaluation Cell (PME) and member of the Core Team for developing

the conceptual framework for the preparation of District Agricultural Plans (DAPs) for

Himachal Pradesh. His current areas of interest have been agricultural education system,

agricultural development and agricultural related enterprises. He has visited ICIMOD

(Kathmandu) twice regarding projects on indigenous honeybees and rangeland ecosystems. He

has remained a member of the executive committee for both the Indian Society of Agricultural

Marketing and Indian Society of Agricultural Economics and a member of the Editorial Board

of the Himachal Journal of Agricultural Research. He has been coordinator and co-coordinator

for the conduct of screening test of Lab Attendants-2017 and admission Entrance Test (UG)-

2016 of CSK HPKV Palampur. He has been a member of research council, CSK HPKV,

Palampur. As a nodal officer of CSK HPKV, Palampur to ICAR Agricultural Education

Division & NIRF of MoHRD, Dr Chauhan has been instrumental in preparing demands for

READY, NTS, Development Funds, Scheduled Caste Component cum Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP),

Library Strengthening, experiential Learning, Niche Area of Excellence (NAE), etc and getting

the funds released in time from ICAR, New Delhi during 2016-17 and 2017-18. Dr. Chauhan

has organized 2nd Interactive Meet of Comptrollers of SAUs/DUs/CUs/CAUs/ held at CSK

HPKV, Palampur on 17-18th August 2017. He has been guest faculty to CUHP, Dharamshala

(Shahpur) for conducting proceedings of workshops and delivering lectures on Econometrics

to PG students. At present he is working as Dean in the Akal College of Economics, commerce

and management, Eternal University, Baru Sahib. He has been a member of IQAC, Academic

Council, Board of Management, Planning Board and Governing Body. He has been

instrumental in preparing SSR for the ICAR accreditation in respect of Akal College of

Agriculture, Eternal University, Baru Sahib. He has been chief organizing secretary for the

organization of ICSSR sponsored seminar on Agriculture Diversification held on 25-26th

March, 2019, at Eternal University, Baru Sahib. Since, August, 2018, he is also holding the

charge of Additional Registrar, Eternal University, Baru Sahib
