Revised final report• Revised final report (1 CD-ROM): 5:00 p.m. 9 June

2011 (together with some questionnaires and forms)• The CD-Room contains the softcopy of the revised

Intended Subject Learning Outcomes:1.To apply specialized knowledge independently.

Interim Progress Report Should Contains

• Aims of the project (specially any change from the original aims)

• Works have been carried up to the date• The ideas, system design and the block diagram of

the system, plus some brief descriptions on the theory.

• Up-to-date progress • Difficulties encountered and the measures taken to

solve it.• Proposed time table for the rest of the work up to the

end of the project• Difficulties expected in the coming period.

Format of Interim Progress Report

• The length of the Interim Progress Report should be limited to 15 pages, excluding appendix, if any.

• Double line spacing and Times New Roman Font of 12 points should be used for most of the text.

• Use a standard front cover format for the interim progress report.

A good report should consists of the following:– A clear recognised structure of a report

– Clear objectives, methodology, and conclusions. These three parts should be linked tightly in order to present the content clearly

– Full and clear referencing is necessary

– Be accurate, clear and concise in terms of data findings and English writing

• In writing each chapter it is a good prac tice to follow the pattern of – A. first tell the readers briefly what you are

going to tell them in an introductory sect ion.– B. tell them what you want to tell them in

the main body of the chapter.– C. tell them briefly what you have told them

in a concluding section.

• Throughout the report simple and direct English should be used. Long sentences should be avoided if possible.

Format of Final Report

• About 60 pages (double-spacing) excluding appendix (if any).

• Font Size : For main body, the font size should be 11 or 12.

• Font sizes of others (say captions of figures/tables/ photos, chapter/section title) may be different.

• Binding: Standard A4 size paper, with a margin of not less than 25 mm on the left-hand side.

• A standard front cover format for the final project report

Presentation & Demonstration• Total time for each FYP presentation is 30 minutes• Limit your presentation to 15-20 minutes• Leave at least 10 minutes for a question-and-answer

session• All rooms for presentation are equipped with LCD

projector and overhead projector, but NOT personal computer NOR notebook computer.

• If you are going to use Power Point or similar computer software for your presentation, bring your own notebook computer.

• You should arrive the venue at least 15 minutes before the start of the session to test the connection.

contributions• Number of slides should be about 20 to 40• Smooth flow of your ideas, logical and smooth• Rehearsals, check the total time, the smoothness

and the fluency• Don’t put too many words in one slide• Don’t read directly from the words on your slides • More photos, pictures, diagrams, charts, and graphs

short video clips (10 to 30 seconds each)• May print out of your slides• Speak at a reasonable loudness and pace. • Use a laser pointer

• Formal Project Proposal, assess by your FYP Supervisor: 5%

• Interim Progress report, assess by your supervisor and another EE staff of the same area: 15%

• Final report, assess by your supervisor, another EE staff of the same area and another EE staff of different area: 55%

• Presentation & demonstration, assess by your supervisor, another EE staff of the same area and another EE staff of different area: 25%

demonstrating a good appreciation of the major stages of product design and development.

• Good format and layout of report, proper use of English, able to explain his/her own work clearly, the general flow of description of his/her work follows a systematic order.
