Brigadier General Antonio MAGGI

Brigadier General Antonio MAGGI attended the Army Military Academy in Modena and the

Application School in Turin, receiving a University Degree in Strategic Sciences. From 1985 to

1993, he served as Platoon and Company Commander in two Alpini (Mountain Troops)

Battalions.

From 1993 to 1997, he attended the War College courses in Rome and graduated both from

the General Staff Course and from the Superior Course of Joint General Staff. In between, he

was assigned to the Joint General Staff in Rome. From 1997 to 1998, he served a tour of duty

in Bosnia in Operation “Joint Forge”.

In 1998, he was assigned to the Joint General Staff in Rome. From 1999 to 2000, he held the

position of Commanding Officer of the Alpini Battalion in L’Aquila. During this period, he took

part in Operation “Allied Harbour” in Albania and in Operation “Joint Guardian” in Kosovo.

From 2000 to 2002, he was appointed to the Alpini Troops HQ in Bolzano. In 2001, he served

a tour of duty in FYROM in Operation “Essential Harvest”. From 2002 to 2006, he was

assigned to SHAPE in Belgium.

From 2006 to 2008, he held the position of Commanding Officer of the 7th Alpini Regiment in

Belluno. During this period, he was deployed with his regiment in Afghanistan and in Kosovo.

From 2008 to 2010, he was posted to JFC Naples. In 2010, he was assigned to Alpini Troops

HQ in Bolzano as Chief of Staff. From 2011 to 2014, he was the Commander of the Mountain

Training Centre in Aosta.

On the 8th of March 2015 he became EUTM Somalia Mission Commander, replacing Brigadier

General Massimo Mingiardi (Italy)
