WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!

My immediate response was, ‘Don’t worry. Brightspark will take care of everything!’ And they did.
“When I became a school administrator 7 years ago I was introduced to Brightspark Travel. In my system many of the schools offer a trip to Washington, DC and NYC to 5th graders. When I went on my first Brightspark trip to DC & NYC in 2007, I was completely blown away by the customer service and attention to detail that the company had in place. Nothing is left to chance. A Brightspark representative is with the traveling group at all times, sometimes even 2 or 3 Brightspark representatives.
This past Friday, on the night that my 5th grade group was supposed to be heading home I received a text from the teacher who was leading this year’s trip. It said, ‘Flight has been cancelled. Will not be coming home tonight.’
For three more days. The airline cancelled the flight and due to the fact that it was the end of spring break for many and it was Cherry Blossom Festival week there were no available seats on outbound flights. My students who were scheduled to arrive home on Friday night finally got a flight out on Monday night. Brightspark took care of everything. They found hotel rooms for 3 more nights, they arranged 3 more days of meals, and planned 3 more days of touring and activities for my group. They turned what could have been a disaster into a 7 (instead of 4) day adventure!
I am completely amazed by the quality of service Brightspark Travel provides and I would never consider undertaking a trip of this magnitude with any company other than Brightspark!” - Cindy M. (Principal)

America Through Music:Nashville’s Country Legacy
24 800.342.9082 | brightsparktravel.com 800.342.9082 | brightsparktravel.com 25
Second Avenue & BroadwayWith boot-stompin’ country music drifting out of honky tonks and neon lights brightening bustling streets, this historic district of downtown Nashville takes students back to a time when aspiring musicians arrived in the big city with nothing but a guitar and a story. Music and atmosphere are highlights of the “honky tonk highway.”
Grand Ole Opry & the Ryman AuditoriumKnown as the “home of American Music,” the Grand Ole Opry’s traditional stage show began on November 28, 1925, when Nashville radio station WSM broadcast its “barn dance.” The show began in an office building, with old fashioned fiddlers, harmonica players and hoedown bands. In the 1940’s the show would move to the Ryman Auditorium, where it hosted iconic country legends like Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, before moving to its current location in the splendid Grand Ole Opry building.
Upon hearing Nashville’s Fisk Jubilee Singers, Queen
Victoria of England remarked that they must have
come from “a very musical city.“The group, which was one of the first African American ensembles to forgo the minstrel style, began a musical tradition in Nashville that would span from the fiddling folk musicians of the Appalachians to the stadium filling country stars of today.
Nashville isn’t the only American city known for its music, but it’s the only city whose music is so distinctly American. Nashville records tell tales of frontiersmen living in isolation with their banjos; honky tonk performers known for their rowdy ways; and convention-breaking Southerners influenced by an African Americans sounds. These top Nashville sights tell the story of American history, through music.

Schermerhorn Symphony CenterHome to the Grammy Award-winning Nashville Symphony, this neoclassical building features vivid acoustic clarity, natural lighting and a custom-built concert organ. Named after Kenneth Schermerhorn, the building was built in 2006 to commemorate the man who served as Nashville Symphony’s Music Director and Principal Conductor for over 20 years.
