8. On 31st December,2014, my cash book showed an overdraft of Rs.13,525. On scrunity the following were noticed: (4) (a) Cheques amounting to Rs.2,100 were paid into the bank on 29th

December, out of which only Rs.175 was credited by the bank. (b) Cheques for Rs.4,000 were issued out of which only one cheque for

Rs.600 was presented for payment. (c) There is a debit of Rs.150 for interest and Rs. 50 for bank charges in

the pass book , which is not entered in the cash book. (d) Rs. 250 debited to bank in cash book has been omitted to be banked.

Prepare a bank reconciliation statement to show the balance as per Pass Book.

12. On 1st January 2014, A sold goods to B for Rs. 1,00,000. He received Rs. 25,000 in cash and drew two bills , first for Rs.45,000 and second for Rs. 30,000 of two months each. Both the bills are duly accepted by B. First bill was endorsed to C in settlement of his account of Rs. 45,200 and second bill was discounted with Bank @ 12% p.a. On the due date the bill that was endorsed was dishonored. C paid Rs. 100 as noting charges.

B paid Rs. 20,000 and noting charges in cash and accepted a new bill for the balance at three months. The interest of Rs. 120 on the balance was paid in cash. On the due date of the new bill, B became insolvent and 40 paise in a rupee is recovered from his estate. Give the journal entries in the books of A and also highlight two values reflected in the above case.

Journalise the following transactions in the books of Naresh & state any two values from the following: (i) Suresh’s requests Naresh to renew his acceptance for Rs. 1,500 for

two months. Naresh agrees to it provided interest @ 20 % is paid in cash.

(ii) Naresh’s acceptance in favour of Ajay for Rs. 15,000 dishonoured due to lack of sufficient funds for which noting charges were paid by Ajay Rs. 20. Ajay agreed to receive the payment without any additional charge to be paid by cheque later on. (4+2=6)

13. The following balances appear in the books of M/s. Genius Traders:

On 1st Jan, 2012 they decided to sell a machinery for Rs. 4,350. This

Machine was purchased in January 2008 for Rs. 8,000.

You are required to prepare Machinery A/c and “Provision for

Depreciation A/c” on 31st Dec,2012. Assuming the firm has been

charging depreciation @ 10% p.a. on straight line method.

On 1st October,1991 Jupiter Transport Company purchased a Truck for

Rs. 4,00,000. On 1st April, 1993 this truck was involved in an accident

and was completely destroyed and Rs.3,00,000 were received from the

Insurance Company in full settlement. On the same date another truck

was purchased by the company for Rs. 5,00,000. The company writes off

20% depreciation p.a. on Written down value method. Give the Truck

account from 1991 to 1993. (8)

10. Oil spreads over the surface of water ,whereas ,water does not spread over the

surface of oil why ?

respectively , Find ( a ) amplitude ( b ) frequency ( c ) wavelength and ( d ) wave

velocity .

A train , standing at the outer signal of a railway station blows a whistle of frequency

400 Hz in still air . ( i ) What is the frequency of the whistle for a platform observer

when the train ( a ) approaches the platform with a speed of 10 m/s ( b ) recedes

from the platform with a speed of 10 m/s ? ( ii ) What is the speed of sound in each

case ? The speed of sound in still air can be taken as 340 m/s

19. If A = ( - 2 i + 3 j - 4 k ) and B = ( 3 i - 4 j + 5 k ) . Find A X B and

A . B

20. Discuss the elastic collision in two dimension and show that the two particles of

equal masses will move at an angle of “π/2 “ when the target is at rest .

21. A copper block of mass 2.5 Kg is heated in furnace to a temperature of 500 0C and

then placed on a large ice block . What is the maximum amount of ice that can melt ?

( Specific heat of Cu = 0.39 J g – 1 K – 1 ; heat of fusion of water = 335 J g – 1 )

22. What is the difference between rotational K.E. and rolling K. E. ? Show that

rolling kinetic energy of a rolling body is given by ½ mv2 ( R2/r2 + 1 ) .

23. Manvi and her friends were enjoying the birthday party of one of their friends in her

home .They all were enjoying themselves by playing various games and dancing . One of

her friends become sweaty and was feeling hot .As ther was no air conditioner .she got an

idea . She opened the door of the refrigerator thinking that might relieve her from heat .

On seeing this . Manvi immediately rushed towards her made her understand that opening

the door of refrigerator would increase the temperature

Of the room .She told her to rest for sometime , if she was feeling very hot .Her friend

understood this and closed the door of refrigerator at once .

( i ) What qualities of Manvi do you appreciate ?

( ii ) Temperature inside an ideal refrigerator is 275 K . How much heat is delivered to

room for every one joule of work done on working substance when room temperature is

315 K .

( iii ) A room cannot be cooled by opening the door of refrigerator in a closed room .

Why ?

24. Discuss Newton’s formula for velocity of sound in air .Point out the error and hence

discuss the Laplace’s correction. Also calculate the temperature at which the speed of

sound will be two times of its velocity at 00C.

What are stationary waves ? How they are formed in a string fixed at both ends ?

Draw the various mode of vibration in them, Calculate the position of nodes and

antinodes.

25.( a ) Establish the relation x = v0 t + 1/ 2 a t2 , Graphically.

( b ) The displacement ( in meter ) of a particle moving along X- axis is given by

X = 18 t + 5 t2 . Calculate ( i ) the instantaneous velocity at t = 2 s

( ii ) the average velocity between t = 2 s and t = 3 s

( iii ) instantaneous acceleration .

( a ) Prove that the path of a projectile is a parabola .

( b ) A particle starts from rest at t = 0 s with a velocity of 10.0 j m/s and moves in the

x-y plane with a constant acceleration of ( 8.0 i + 2.0 j ) ms-2 . ( i ) A t what time is the

x- coordinate of the particle 16 m? What is the y-coordinate of the particle at that time .

( ii ) What is the speed of the particle at the time.

26. ( i ) What is the phenomenon of capillarity ? Derive an expression for the rise of the

liquid in a capillary tube .

( ii ) What will happen if the length of the capillary tube is smaller than the height to

which the liquid rises ? Explain briefly .

Define coefficient of viscosity and give its SI unit . Derive the formula
