Tim McGraw Bring the First Annual Show Me Music Fest
To a Close and the Audience to Their Feet!
Sunday night marked the end of the first annual Show Me Music and Arts Festival,
bringing to a close three full days of entertainment from top musical acts including Tim
McGraw, Trace Adkins, Train, OneRepublic, REO Speedwagon, Big & Rich and
Gretchen Wilson, and many more.
With 10 months of preparation, 11 days of on-site construction, and over 165 staff
working around the clock, Show Me Music Fest was the first event of its kind in the
area, and judging by the reaction of the three-day aggregate attendance of 34,000 fans
who traveled to the 350 acre Springfield Underground site, the festival was a great suc-
cess! Sunday drew the largest attendance, featuring rock band OneRepublic and interna-
tional country superstar Tim McGraw, who both kept the crowd on its feet through the
very end.
"As a first year festival, we couldn't be happier with the support we've received from the
city of Springfield and the surrounding areas," expressed Show Me Music Fest manag-
ing partner Rex Winslow. "We were so thrilled with the talent that participated, and the
fan response was overwhelming. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a huge
success!"
Additional entertainment throughout the festival included national HBO and Comedy Central comedians at the
Comedy Stage, regional and national musical acts at the Saloon Stage, and Celebrity Food Network chefs in the
Chef Pavilion including „Dinner: Impossible‟ star Robert Irvine who captivated the crowd with his direct and
charming personality.
Several fundraising efforts to benefit the community of Joplin, MO took place over the weekend as well, in-
cluding silent and live auctions featuring numerous donations from all around the nation with items from the
historic Ryman Auditorium, Little Big Town, Gloriana, Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, George Jones, and many
more. The live auction also included three items, a pair of boots, a guitar, and a hat, all signed by every artist
who performed at the Show Me Music and Arts Festival.
Show Me Music and Arts Festival was produced by Conway Entertainment Group out of Nashville, TN and its
concert production company CEG LIVE. "This event has great potential," states Conway Entertainment Group
owner Tony Conway, " I foresee it growing into one of the finest music & camping festivals in the country."
With top musical acts, entertainment, vendors, charity auctions, camping and more, the Show Me Music and
Arts Festival had it all, proving that Show Me Music Fest was THE place to be this past weekend!

and US country music and television scene, produced
so much energy together in that station lobby before
the interview that I was convinced the light bulbs
across the first floor were going to blow. At one
point, Tom LeGarde clowned with 6‟ 7” country
rhythm artist Ben Stillwater for an unforgettable
photo-op that staff and hotel lobby guests stopped in
their tracks to witness.
I sat down with Tim
Daley in a comfortable
station enclave with posh
seats and carved marble
and we were off for a bit
of a chat. It must be
pointed out that Tim was
born and schooled here in
the state of Colorado. He
attended Mesa College in
Grand Junction, Colorado
where he himself admit-
ted to being more focused
on the, “…college radio
station” temptations than
standard, “…
academics…”
After a three-year tour of
the hallowed halls of higher education, Tim left
school (much to his mother‟s dismay) for a career in
radio. He found himself at KQYL and then KREX
working the pop and country scene through the 1980s
and into the 1990s, laying the groundwork for his
eventual shift into full-on program director work. The
infection of broadcast media was spreading through
Tim‟s veins and would lead to a fever in program di-
recting and broadcasting that hasn‟t broke to this day.
Another fever to wash over Mr. Daley was his Aus-
tralian wife that swept him away to his new home in
1993. After settling in, Tim did his time in classic
rock radio and then Channel V. Tim then launched
„MusicMax‟ (a VH-1-esque production now known
as „Max‟) and shortly thereafter created Australia‟s
Country Music Channel (CMC) in 2002, much
Have you ever wondered what
happens when you play Austra-
lian country music backwards?
Well, you get your sport „ute
back, your pet dingo comes
home and your Sheila comes
back to you. My apologies for
the sardonic, clichéd opener,
yet it‟s an entirely appropriate
and warmly delivered poke of fun in the direction
of our „down under‟ friend and program director at
the Country Music Channel near Sydney, Australia,
Tim Daley.
Tim and I got together recently at the beautifully
appointed and restored Union Station in downtown
Nashville a few days before the kick off of the
Country Fan Days festival. And, I have to say that
as soon as I spotted Tim strolling across the lobby
of that historic train station, we were going to have
a great interview. Tim, wearing long-board shorts,
and pair of Vans casuals and a broad smile met me
with a solid handshake and an infectious energy.
But, Tim wasn‟t alone in that lobby. The legendary
LeGarde Twins, Ted and Tom flanked him. The
Australian twins, after 50 years in the Australian
by Scott V. Palmer
to the delight of many in the country willing to sign
up for the pay channel via FoxTel and AuStar...the
eventual backers of CMC. The channel features mu-
sic and programming from native Australian talent
and country music from around the globe. The idea of
true country music has always been present in Austra-
lia as represented by „Bush Ballads‟ and traditional
genres, however, the volume of native music videos
and material is slow in coming. Tim pointed out that
the majority of the population of the country lives in
urban, city areas that dot the coastlines and city cen-
ters just inland. Less than 30% of the residents live
farther inland and throughout the rugged, unforgiving
outback. Filling that ever-narrowing gap is the intro-
duction and representation of international influences
in their country music scene. Many stateside Ameri-
can artists can be found touring throughout the coun-
try and frequently along the southeast coastal region.
Many of the performers native to Australia bring their
music and skills to performance competitions and tal-
ent quests sponsored by a farm system that spotlights
and supports the region‟s ever-growing number of
fresh Australian performers and acts.
Tim and I also talked about a new production airing
on CMC that highlights the travels and experiences of
Mark and Jay O‟Shea as the Australian country music
performing couple traveling throughout the USA ex-
periencing American country music culture. The
O‟Sheas in the USA chronicles their journey in bite-
sized, less than 6-minute video segments. These fun-
size snippets offer a unique perspective of the Ameri-
can music scene as witnessed and lived by this Aus-
tralian couple. The series (brought to CMC by Digital
Rodeo) airs every two weeks and the O‟Sheas already
have their first CD produced.
Mr. Daley is in town for the CMA Festival and a myr-
iad of other industry meetings. Tim brought along his
shopping bag, as well, as he seeks out new television
programming possibilities, acts and performers for his
CMC line-up. With any luck, Tim will be able to take
in a few acts at Nashville‟s Country Fan Days, as
well.
In closing, it must be said that Mr. Daley is a truly
neat guy with a truly great career within a truly great
country. As country music blossoms down under with
the help of visiting international acts and perform-
ances, Australia will continue to embrace the genre
from within and grow in ever increasing popularity.
The day grew hot and muggy. It was time to say
goodbye to our new good friend Tim and get back to
the business of the music business. With a firm and
sincere handshake, we went our separate ways. Nash-
ville won‟t say „goodbye‟ Mr. Daley, rather…until
next time. Cheers mate!

Billy Henson‟s new CD, There Is A Time kicks off with the title track and immedi-
ately gets toes to tappin‟. The “Fiddles of Tennessee” add a delightful flair to his
solid country vocals. Billy wrote six of the ten songs and all seem hauntingly famil-
iar. His past success with cuts by Ernest Tubb and other country music pioneers
plus his reverence for a traditional style are evident here. Songs like “In The Whis-
pering Pine” and “If Loneliness Can Kill Me” make this an inviting project for
those who want to take a new walk down memory lane.

Casey Dilworth is helping keep traditional country music alive with plenty of steel
guitar, fiddle and mandolin filling up the tracks on his album, I Remember You.
Ballads such as “Before I Get To Heaven” and “Old River” seem to highlight Ca-
sey‟s vocals best. There is a variety of material from fun songs like “Wicked Little
Weasel” to songs with a more serious note such as “The Dash”; but no matter the
song, Casey‟s traditional country style is obvious.
The Season In Hell CD cover and title leads to the assumption that this is an album
full of rockin‟ outlaw music; however, while there are some “outlaw” moments like
in ”Love, Life & Murder,” it‟s not so much outlaw as it is Americana. While the
group obviously works well together with the lead vocals familiarly wrapped with
the rhythm guitar, lead guitar, bass and drums, they play it too safe. East Coast
Turnaround is a talented group that needs to add just a little more rowdiness to the
grooves.

Rascal Flatts/Natasha Bedingfield shoot video at Nashville Symphony
Monday, June 6th a group of excited extras lined the stairwells of the Nashville Symphony an-
ticipating the priceless opportunity to be a part of the Rascal Flatts/Natasha Bedingfield music
video for their collaboration of the moving ballad “Easy.” This emotional tune which is sure to
instantly grab listener‟s attention is showcased beautifully by the pairing of country music‟s
popular trio with one of the industry‟s most notable songbirds.
As an extra myself, I first hand was able to appreciate and thoroughly enjoy the making of a
music video. I was able to witness how much effort and careful work it takes to construct a successful video.
The work and cooperation of all is undoubtedly required as it is truly a team effort. So now you may be won-
dering what GAC/CMT viewers can expect from this upcoming video release? Well, I will tell you that there
were limos and formal wear involved but I certainly would not want to give away too many details beforehand.
However, I think the glamorous layout and overall presentation of this video will secure a very favorable spot
on the countdowns in the upcoming months. Stay tuned as Rascal Flatts and Natasha Bedingfield make success
look so “Easy.”
CMT Awards
Wednesday, June 13th I found myself at the CMT Music Awards. Having never been to this event, I was hon-
ored to get the opportunity to be a part of the excitement. Fans packed the stands and the mosh area surround-
ing the stages as their favorite acts gave foot-tapping, dance worthy performances all night long. As the night
kicked off, it was clear that the crowd was locked in as the high energy Kid Rock made his entrance as host of
the show. He was joined by Wynonna on the stage upon his entrance and the crowd went wild. A little humor-
ous prerecorded acting clip featuring Taylor Swift and Shania Twain as Thelma and Louise caused all eyes to be
on the screens around the arena.
It is safe to say the CMT Awards are one of the most energetic, lively award shows as this event is one of the
most acknowledging events of country music fan‟s, their voices and their choices. Some highlights of the eve-
ning was the return of Shania Twain, along with the first country award show appearance of the latest American
idol winner Scotty Mccreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina. If that weren‟t enough for the strong fan base in at-
tendance, none other than young heartthrob Justin Bieber was also a part of this years event. Not only did he get
to present an award, he also got to accept one with Rascal Flatts for “Collaborative Video of the Year.” It is
safe that the camera of nearly every teenage girl in the arena was on Bieber and Flatts at that very moment.
The CMT Award Winners are as follows:
Video of the Year: Taylor Swift – “Mine”
Male Video of the Year: Blake Shelton “Who Are You When I‟m Not Looking”
Female Video of the Year: Miranda Lambert: “The House That Built Me”
Group Video of the Year: Lady Antebellum – “Hello World”
Duo Video of the Year: Sugarland – “Stuck Like Glue”
USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year: The Band Perry – “If I Die Young”
