NEWSLETTER
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Monday 14th October saw our Tournament at Pine
Rivers and we had a good roll up of players. We had 20
players from Gatton, Red Hill, Pine Rivers, Toowong,
Kallangur, Sandgate, Chermside, Geebung and
Samford. So again 9 Clubs supporting the day and that
is not too bad at all.
I would like to thank Pine Rivers for their hospitality
and I spoke with Dave Edwards after and he suggested
that they would be happy to have us back next year.
I would like to welcome a new member who joined us
at Pine Rivers in Elizabeth Bristow. We look forward to
Elizabeth playing in future tournaments.
The proposed Calendar of Events is all but complete
and we are just sorting out the final bits and pieces.
Our new website is underway and is at the Design stage
at this time. I am hopeful that we will see it live before
the end of November.
The banner looked great hanging there at Pine Rivers
and I think it adds a level of professionalism about us.
Shirts whilst on hold at the moment are moving
forward. I am in the process of trying for a Sponsorship
deal for shirts with Flight Centre, but this won’t be
finalised until December, so we have decided to wait to
see if they will do so.
Have a great week of bowls and I look forward to seeing
many of you on the Greens at Pine Rivers on Monday.

BNABAi ORGANISATIONAL CHANGES
We held our AGM on Monday 14th October 2019 and
we filled most of our new positions. The new
Committee is as follows:

I would like to thank all of these members for becoming
involved in our Association and if anyone else would
like to contribute or become a member of the
Committee please advise us in writing and we will
consider all applications for additional Committee
Members or Members who would just like to take on a
task for 2020.

PINE RIVERS TOURNAMENT
Pine Rivers was our venue for Monday 14th October
and it was a great day again. We had 20 players from 9
Clubs competing. Great effort!
Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter Kanowski
(Kallangur) tied with Julie Munro (Pine Rivers) and
Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers) for the 2 x 4 x 2 Match with
a 2 + 13.Dianne Keogh (Sandgate and Geoff Hankinson
(Chermside) were close behind on 2 + 12. What a tight
match.
Julie Munro (Pine Rivers) and Doug Bristow (Pine
Rivers) won the 3 Bowls Pairs with 2 + 8 and runners up
was a tie between Shirley and Archie Wicks (Pine
Rivers) and Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter
Kanowski (Kallangur) with 2 + 7. Again how close was
that!!
Overall winners for the day were Julie Munro (Pine
Rivers) and Doug Bristow (Pine Rivers) with a 4 + 21
with runner up Geoff Jordan (Kallangur) and Peter
Kanowski (Kallangur) with a 4 + 20. Couldn’t get much
tighter.
Well done to all who competed and we look forward to
seeing you all again at Aspley on Sunday 17th
November.

ASPLEY TOURNAMENT IS NEXT
The next tournament will be held at Aspley Bowls Club
on Sunday 17th November.
I hope to see a lot of our players at this one. Again it
will be under cover.
Our major Sponsor for this tournament will again be
Linda Walters of Progressive Realty and there are 3 x
$50 Cards up for grabs again.
Our raffle sponsor will again be Kris Higgins of Travel
Counsellors who contributes our raffle prizes each
month.

can use their services please do, as without our
sponsors it is difficult to run these days.
NEW SPONSOR - ALEX GOW FUNERALS
Alex Gow Funerals have taken up Sponsorship of
BNABAi for the next year and have committed to being
a regular Sponsor for the coming years.
Brett and the team will be major Sponsors of an event
at some stage in 2020 and will be sending us quarterly
Puzzle Books for our members to enjoy as an extra.
If we know of anyone who requires their services
please refer them to Alex Gow as they are supporting
us, so let’s get out there and support them.
SEQ QLD BOWLS EVENTS FACEBOOK SITE
We now have the opportunity to put our upcoming
events onto the SE Qld Bowls Event Facebook Page. I
believe this to be yet another opportunity to promote
Brisbane Northside Arm Bowls Association Inc.
Get onto Facebook and search SEQ QLD BOWLS
EVENTS and check it out.
And it is open to all Clubs to put up their events so, let
your Club Secretaries know about it. It is FREE!!

As you would be aware we are losing our webpage in
December 2019, So, our new website is underway and
we are currently in the Development stage.
We are hopeful of having this live by the end of
November 2019.
In the meantime, we will continue to use the Armed
Bowlers Australia website.

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME
If you are an Arm Bowler and would like to support
Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers Association Inc,
Membership is only $20 per year to do so, so please
contact Tony Watson on 0408 766 992 or email
Benefits of joining our Association is the first
preference to play in our Tournaments, a lot of
information about what we do only goes out to
members and only members have voting rights to have
input into our future direction.
There is also free coaching available on game days, by
appointment and you will get to meet and learn from a
whole range of Arm Bowlers at various levels of the
game.
We also have a few Bowling Arms that can be loaned
to our Financial Members to try.
We are also fighting the battle to have a fairer
arrangement for selection of State players for the
future and to have a truly National Competition in the
future.
Membership is also open to non-arm bowlers to
become Associate Members of Brisbane Northside
Arm Bowlers Association Inc if you have an interest in
what we do.
We offer friendly games based on the Northside of
Brisbane for Arm Bowlers of all standard. Our prize
monies are random draw, so anyone can win on the
day.
Please note that if you are not a current Financial
Member of Brisbane Northside Arm Bowlers
Association Inc, you are not covered by our insurance
policy if you elect to play in our tournaments.
You do not have to be a member of a Brisbane
Northside Club to play in our tournaments, but you do
need to be a financial member of a Bowls Australia
recognised Bowls Club. So we are open to all Arm
Bowlers to join us, however, our members have first
preference.
We welcome all levels of players and look forward to
meeting you on the Greens on the Northside of
Brisbane.
So, come on get involved and help grow Arm Bowls
with us!!!
