Brisbane South catchment area The Brisbane South catchment includes the Stones Corner Child Safety Service Centre and the Mount Gravatt Child Safety Service Centre.
Brisbane South catchment profile On 30 June 2012, it was estimated there were 375,764 people residing within the Brisbane South catchment area. This represented approximately 8% of the estimated resident population of Queensland (4,565,529 people).
The estimated number of children aged 0-17 years was 75,566 people (approximately 7% of the Queensland population of children aged 0-17 years). There were an estimated 18,956 children aged 0-3 years (approximately 7% of the equivalent Queensland population).
The population of people who identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in Brisbane South as at 30 June 2012 was 4,175 (1.2% of the total population in the catchment). In Queensland, the population of people who identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander was 155,824 (3.6% of the total population).
The number of couple families with children living in Brisbane South (44%) was higher than the Queensland average (42.8%). The Brisbane South catchment has a higher proportion of people who speak a language other than English (58.5%) than the average of Queensland (36%), representing 20% of the population.
