BIBA bandAn integral component of the BIBA branding is the BIBA band. This device is an integral part of the look for all BIBA printed documents. It is always coloured in Pantone 653 or the CMYK equivalent.

The construction of this device must be followed to the measurements shown. This device is to be used once on the cover of all printed matter.

The position is always horizontal top right or vertical top left. All titles and headings hang from this device. See illustrations as a guide.

Cover branding and applicationThe BIBA look is not just the logo device. All the constituent parts play a role in establishing the BIBA brand.

If implemented with consideration, the perception of BIBA will be enhanced.

The aim of these illustrations is not to prescribe a set of rules, but to act as a guide.

The BIBA band is to be positioned top right.

The lead story is always in the biggest point size.

The following stories are always left aligned with a lower point size to the leading story.

The date and issue number are always placed in the top left corner.

Background images typically are full bleed.

The BIBA logo is positioned bottom left. The logo can be placed over an image or over a solid colour. The primary concern is legibility. Ensure the logo is visible at all times. In the first instance, use the BIBA blue logo.

British Insurance Brokers’ Association

An MP’s guideHelping constituents with insurance

Managing risks and supporting jobs and growth

Guarding against underinsuranceBIBA is working closely with the insurance sector and other stakeholders to produce a guide for customers and raise awareness of the consequences of not having suitable insurance cover in the event of a claim.

Obtaining the right amount of insurance is critical. Customers should ensure they have sufficient, fairly-priced cover to protect them against a loss.

Tackling fraudThe average cost of insurance fraud to every innocent customer is £50 per policy per annum. Insurance brokers and their customers can all fall victim to fraud. BIBA is a member of the Government’s Insurance Fraud Taskforce and is working with Government and anti-fraud organisations including the Insurance Fraud Bureau to reduce misrepresentation and application fraud.

Promoting business continuityBusiness continuity requires building resilience into a business and preparing strategies for trading through an incident. BIBA research, undertaken with the Cabinet Office, shows that 62% of insurance industry respondents said that those organisations with a business continuity plan (BCP) would benefit from a greater choice of insurer, a premium discount or a reduced excess.

BIBA has produced the Business Continuity for Dummies Guide in collaboration with the Cabinet Office, and has recently launched a Small Business Insurance for Dummies book in 2014 – part of the Dummies Guide series.

Sharing economy

In the summer of 2014, BIBA was asked to chair a meeting in Downing Street to discuss how brokers could help provide insurance solutions to the sharing economy. Price Waterhouse Cooper recently forecasted this sector to be worth £9bn by 2025.

Traditionally, insurance covers the item itself rather than the use of it and often people were choosing to self-insure as they could not find cover readily available.

As a result of the Downing Street meeting, BIBA produced a guide to the sharing economy and found several member firms that could provide cover, from borrowing dogs at the weekend, to hiring your home out to holiday makers.
