A broodje Kroket is a small bread crumb fried role usually made of mashed potatoes, but often mixed with ground meat, shellfish, fish, cheese, or vegetables. The croquette is usually shaped into a cylinder, disk, or oval shape, and then deep-fried. It is so popular in the Netherlands that McDonalds sells their own version of it there, called the ‘McKroket’.

The tomato beer sauce is regarded as a secret and is one of the most important parts of the sandwich. The sandwich is similar to lasagne and is most often served with french fries.
