Meeting in progress in conference hall
A Centrally funded institution is set up to impart quality technical education at various levels of
higher learning. It is one of the ten newly set up NITs by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Govt. of India. It has been established to cater to the needs of thousands of
students from the north east and outside in the field of Technical Education. The institute has got
the status of National importance.
NITMN started its first session with three branches of engineering- Computer Science &
Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering (redesignated as Electrical Engineering from
2015 academic session) and Electronics & Communication Engineering. At present, it has five
core Engineering departments viz. CSE, EE, ECE, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
It has a campus of 138.2 hectares in the lush green area of langol in Imphal.
About NIT ManipurNIT Manipur, Langol, Imphal
National Institute of Technology Manipur
The Institute aims to provide the best infrastructure and amenities to the students. The institute
envisions to be one of the best technical institutes in South-East Asia. The Institute aims to attract
students from the neighbouring South-East Asian countries in view of the Act–East Policy of the
Government of India. The Institute strongly believes that the success of an Institute lies in the faculty
and will leave no stone unturned to attract the best faculty available in the country.
The Institute has been accorded the status of “An Institute of National Importance” and aspires to
be a knowledge hub for the region. The Institute through its academic and research activities
would act as incubation centre for aspiring “technopreneurs”. The Institute provides an ideal
platform for national integration through emotional integration as half of the students are from
outside the state. It envisions being an institute producing human resource of world class standard
who will contribute significantly to the well being of mankind.
Mission
Vision
Ashishkumar ChauhanChairperson, BOG. NIT Manipur
Dear Recruiter,
NIT Manipur, an institute of national importance, was established in 2010 to impart quality
technical education at various levels of higher learning. The Institute offers B.Tech degree in
Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical
Engineering, Civil Engineering & Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech degree in all the
above disciplines except Mechanical Engineering. M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering will
be introduced from 2016-17 academic session. The Programme structure and the pedagogy
are well designed to provide students with the best of technical education and practical
experience in order to bridge the gap between academia and industry.
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce you to the 3rd batch students of NIT Manipur. The
batch represents an enthusiastic and committed group of graduating engineers ready to join
the Industry and contribute their might to the “Make in India” initiative of the Govt. of India.
NIT Manipur graduating students have been very well appointed for their ability to adapt to
the challenging environments. Two batch of students have passed out and have been placed
in prominent companies like Larsen & Toubro, Hewlett & Packard, Infosys, Wipro, Philips,
Tech Mahindra, IBM, Nokia Networks, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., TCS, & Nomura
Research Institute etc. I am confident that this group of graduating engineers will be of great
value to your organisation and recommend the batch for your consideration.
I, on behalf of NIT Manipur, invite your company to visit our institute for campus
recruitment and other purposeful academic activities of mutual interest.
Message from the Chairperson, BOG, NIT Manipur
From the Desk Of Director
NIT Manipur is one of the ten new NITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of
India. The institute started its first batch in 2010 and it has now all the five core Engineering departments
viz. CSE, EE, ECE, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering . The institute has successfully set up all
the necessary laboratories required for the B. Tech programme with state–of–the-Art facilities partly in
the permanent campus, Langol and partly in the temporary campus, Takyel. The campus is fully
connected including the hostels through LAN and WiFi whereas the bandwidth is provided by NME-ICT
and NKN @ 100Mbps to 1 Gbps.
NIT Manipur is committed to live up to its trade mark of being “An institute of National importance”. All
efforts are being made to provide all amenities required in a premier technical institute. No stone is left
unturned to provide the students with all infrastructural support required to groom and train future
promising engineers. The students are admitted through the highly competitive national level
examination JEE MAIN. Being a national institute, the institute attracts students from all parts of the coun-
try giving it a truly national character. NIT Manipur has gone Global with the programme Direct Admis-
sion of Students Abroad (DASA) from 2013-14.

Message from Training & Placement Officers
The Institute has been
making great efforts to
face the challenges and
opportunities presented by
the current globalisation
scenario. The institute’s
mission has always been to
nurture the students into capable and
innovative professionals who contribute to the
growth of technology. The institute offers
campus placements to students graduating
with B.Tech(Mechanical Engineering, Civil
Engineering, Electrical and Electronics
Engineering, Electronics and Communication
Engineering and Computer Science and
Engineering). I am confident that our students
will make a mark wherever they go and make
their alma mater proud of them. I must thank the
companies that have displayed a strong faith in
our students during and beyond the placement
process. Also we extend a special invitation to
the new recruiters who are yet to catch a
glimpse of our students and the institute for the
upcoming placements.
On behalf of
National Institute of
Technology, Manipur,
it is my pleasure to
invite you to our
beautiful campus for
conducting campus
selection programmes for our students. The
students can be profiled as per
requirements and procedures set by the
respective companies. Services of liaison
officer can be provided on request to take
care of needs upon arrival. With this brief
background I am furnishing in the pages to
follow all pertinent information about us. I
would request you to kindly visit our
campus for selecting candidates of your
choice on any date convenient to both of
us. Expecting our interaction to grow over
the years to come.
Survival of the Fittest
Of the 10 lakhs students who take the
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)Main,
only about 10,000 make it to NITs
of which only 180 make it to NIT Manipur.
This highly rigorous procedure ensures
that only the best of the lot can make it
to this institute.
Our class curriculam
and Faculty
Our faculty members are
Ph.Ds and are actively
involved in research
and journal publications.
Our curriculum is constantly
updated to reflect the latest
Technology and Research.
An Institution, Not a College
NIT Manipur distinguishes itself
not as a college of engineering
but as an institution. This institute
of national importance, unlike a
college, is here to serve a larger
purpose where getting a degree
is not the primary focus. The idea
of creating better technologists,
better leaders and importantly
better citizens suffuses through
the teaching pedagogy of
the curriculum.
Balanced Personalities
We believe whole heartedly in helping
students to develop to their full potential
in every field of their interest. Soft skill is
made part of the class-room
experience through presentation of open
ended learning components.By
extracurricular activities, student
managed clubs and events to give
them further avenues to express
themselves and develop skills beyond
academics.
