    In order to standardise theevaluation of the air quality withinthe EU the standard measuringtechn iques and measur ingprocedures have been determined.Basically for the evaluation andcontrol of the air quality is the EUguideline 96/62/EC as well as theEU guideline 1999/30/EC [1] whichd e t e r m i n e t h e s p e c i f i e drequirements for the ofthe suspended matters in theenvironment (inhalable, thoracicand alveolic fraction). According tothis, the sampler with PM2,5 pre-separators agree with the CEN/ISOconven t i on abou t tho rac i csuspended matters. Apart fromabove, selective sampling ofdifferent suspended matters invarious other applications ismandatory to be able to attribute themeasurement results to certainsources as for example physicaland chemical processes.

    The DIGITEL PM2,5 Inlet is a singlestage impactor designed to achieveits cut-off for 2,5 m at a flow rate of30 m/h. This flow has beenselected because of the fact thatmany monitoring networks aresampling TSP with DIGITEL HighVolume Samplers at this flow valuesince many years. The toroidalshaped impactor plate can beremoved for cleaning and greasing.In order to avoid icing of theimpactor surface during winter timeheating is provided. Using a shortpiece of the standard DIGITELsuction tube the PM2,5 canimmediately be mounted onto theentrance sleeve of the DIGITELHigh Volume Sampler.
