APPLICATIONS

DEEP- FREEZING

Millennium Engineering's deep freezingsystems are the result of innovation andresearch coming from the best foodequipment solution. The food products are

conveyed on a belt conveyor and deep frozen in a freezingroom with insulated walls of varying thickness dependingon the required operating temperature. The DLS-EVO beltconveyor operating in very low temperatures and thefreezing technology incorporated provide the ideal solutionfor conveying diverse food products from bakery (bread,pizza, cakes) to fresh produce as fish, meat or vegetables.The evaporators installed in the insulated deep freezingroom and the powerfull fans ensure an excellent air flowpromoting a correct heat exchange and perfect fast andeffective blast chilling guaranteeing food quality and aneasy and efficient system to operate.

COOLING

Our flexible technology allows to create bothroom cooling as well as forced-air coolingsystems which can be adapted to anyproduction site. This type of system is in-line

managed and perfect for conveying any type of packagedor bulk food product. The room cooling system, ideal forprocessing industrial quantities of products, is bespokedesigned to meet individual production requirements,optimising on space and guaranteeing high performance.The air-forced system in a cooling room is the right solutionfor a precise management of food processing conditionsand for ensuring the most stringent hygiene conditions.This is essential when the product is in-feed at a hightemperature and has to be blast cooled to a lowtemperature. The cooling rooms can be supplied withvarying insulation depending on the operating temperatureand can be fitted with efficient solutions for cooling, air-forced circulation, humidification and air filtering.

PROOFING

Proofing is a delicate process and essentialfor treating food products and formaintaining their natural taste and aroma. Isfor this reason that Millennium

Engineering focuses on developing systems whichmaintain the natural qualities of the food product and whichpromote a natural and healthy proofing process. Proofing isinside an air-conditioned sealed chamber, temperature andhumidity are monitored constantly, and it is programmeddepending on the type of food product to process, itsnatural qualities and the results to achieve. The conveyingsystem used in line and ideal for bulk products basis, inpans or containers.

PASTEURIZATION

Millennium Engineering has developed themost sophisticated systems whichincorporate, in addition to the insulatedrooms - developed and built to guarantee

the products being processed reach the correcttemperature within the specified time - the DLS-EVOconveying system. Our conveying system, thanks to thepossibility of operating in high temperatures withoutproblems, is integrated with the pasteurizing line which isequipped with a convection heating system in order toguarantee the heat for the product in a uniform mannerregardless of the moisture content. The flexibility of thissystems offer the possibility of programming productheating sequences at different temperatures or in separaterooms or in the same room but divided into compartments.This feature offers greater and precise control of heatingtimes and temperature stabilisation guaranteeing thequality of the food product being processed.

APPLICATIONS

CONVEYING

Millennium Engineering’s flexibletechnology is guaranteed by our innovativeconveying system, designed and developedin-house and which can be adapted to

satisfy individual production and for each individual project.In addition to the possibility of controlling and monitoringbelt speed, depending on the customer’s productionrequirements, it is also possible to create, on spirals,product in-feed and discharge in any required position andat any height. The stainless belt travels on self-lubricatinglow friction guides. The structure consists of profiles joinedtogether by purpose plates and support frames, this entirestructure is manufactured in stainless steel. Purposesupports allow for installing sidewalls in non-toxic plastic orin stainless steel. The belt is supplied with stainless steelbars as standard however, in the event of particular foodproducts that require a different type of conveying surface,a food grade plastic or stainless steel mesh can be applied.

INNOVATIVE CONCEPT WITH SECURE SOLUTIONS

Millennium Engineering Spiral Freezer is very simple, it consist ona belt running onto a profile having the characteristic of low friction.This make the belt running smooth and with a very low load forpulling it.

The drive system has a drive sprocket on every tier pulling the belt(low load on every sprocket) and the drive unit has a gear motorturning the main driving shaft. With these features it is not needed abig power to run the spiral (from 0.37kW to 2,2 kW motor size) formedium to big tower. When a system is simple then also the maintenance required is notvery big, every thing comes down to inspect the bearings along themain shaft and grease them once a month. Low power consumption and low maintenance are already reasonsfor cost reduction compare with the others.

INFEED AND OUTFEED SOLUTIONS Our spirals have the flexibility to become custom designed for everyapplication, in a few words it is possible to have the in-feed at lowlevel and the out-feed at low level too; this aspect can follow thespecific customer needs, like less space for positioning the machinesbefore and after the spiral. Anyway we have high in-feed and low out-feed, but also have made low in-feed and the out-feed in the middleof the spiral. In additional to it we can design the machine withposition of the in-feed and out-feed located all around the spiral inaccordance with the existing position of the machinery before andafter the spiral. Other feature regards the type of belt can be used inaccordance with the type of product need to go in the Freezer, sothat for big products the belt can be a single bars or double bars, forsmaller products we have plastic net to be inserted, for meat orvegetables we have stainless steel mesh.

EVAPORATORS SOLUTIONS

The evaporators making the cold inside the cabinet can be placedinside the unit, in case of oval spiral, or on site in case of circle spiral.There are several deflectors taking the air in circulation inside thespiral in order to have good air movement on between the tiers andthe product. Calculation of the evaporators' size is made in accordance of theproduct specifications and dimensions. We need to know thetemperature of the product before the freezer, quantity and weight,and then we calculate the power needed to drop down thetemperature of the product at -15 to -18 C at the core. This will giveus the resting time inside the spiral and the size of the spiral itself. CABINET SOLUTION

We supply also the cabinet consisting in panels of 150mm. thicknesswith the floor made also on insulated panel with reinforcing plywoodin order to hold the weight of the units. The floor is having a stainlesssteel tub so the water can flow out of the cabinet and the machinecan be washed out. Walls inside the cabinet are in stainless steel .There is the possibility to have the belt washer (located inside thecabinet) with a drying unit for cleaning the belt every end ofproduction.

We can supply the foaming system with the washing for the completespiral if requested from the customer.The defrosting can be made by using water or hot gas or resistors, itcan be implemented for all units or step by step if the customer cannot stop production and keep running the machine 24 h continuously. EQUIPMENT CONTROL

As mentioned in the beginning the spiral is very simple so the controlpanel is very simple too. There is the speed control for the restingtime which can variate from one type of product to an other, there isthe temperature control for setting the appropriate temperature insidethe cabinet and there is the on-off control of the belt washer. All thesefeatures can be implemented on electromechanical controls or withusage of a PLC control unit, this is on customer request.

STRUCTURE

All the machines manufactured by us are studied in detail. In this waywe designed and built a very rigid structure and at the same timevery clean and hygienic, in fact this structure was designed in orderto make quick and easy cleaning operations and at the same time,thanks to its rounded shape, eliminates all impurities and dirtaccumulations, this permit to increase the hygiene of the wholestructure. All this has been thought by significantly increasing rigidityof the structure, respect to past solutions and still present in themarket, and very important details is that each part of the machine isclosed. There are no open shapes and hidden surfaces.

The guides, on which runs the tape, are constituted by two lateralprofiles in stainless steel, equipped with an exclusive drivingstructure, for the belt, made with a special plastic material with FDAcertification for low friction coefficient; all connected by stainless steelspacers cylindrical. The coupling to the other elements is easilyachieved by special and specific joints in stainless steel. These railsare fixed to a column structure, in AISI 304 stainless steel, formedwith round tube reinforced by step and fully adjustable leg, bottomand top, in stainless steel and stiffened by internal bracing, always inAISI 304.

BELT

The belt is made by electrical welding of bars in AISI 304 diam. 6 mmto a special chain 32mm in AISI 304 high resistance against which isinserted a set of teeth always in AISI 304. THAT SOLUTION ISPROTECTED BY PATENT.

The coupling is realized by toothed wheels made of special plasticmaterial, high slip, which engage without sliding on the tape.

Sliding occurs through fins made of antifriction plastic material thatare blocked on the fingers and that, when need,permit an easly andquickly replacement without forced or stop the machine.

DRIVE UNIT

The drive of the tape is accomplished through astructure, also in stainless steel, in which ishoused a motor drive. From it a transmissionshaft, by means of a chain coupling, actuates,through specific clamping, the drive wheels in"acetal resin" which give the movement to thetape itself. All moving and potential dangerousparts are protected by carters that are on the netthis permits you to control the machine and makeit in security. All motors are driven by variablefrequency drives that allow you to change thesingle speed of the single engine or the speed ofall motors simultaneously in the case of morethan one system. Also we can tie the operation of our facilities withthe operation of other systems "upstream" and"downstream".

ELECTRICAL

It is equipped with touch panel to have a good view of the operationparameters of the machine, this is operated by a single PLC. Allalarms and all the drives and sensors are controlled by a PLC, anyfault or alarm is clearly evidenced by the panel. It is possible, througha specific module inserted, to have our assistance or supervisionfrom our headquarters.

BELT WASHING

The spiral can be equipped with belt-washing and drying:

- Washing machine in high pressure parameters-Hot or cold water

Washing machine “open-type model” to be applied inside the cabinetfreezing.

Drying is carried out with a fan and a spray of high pressure air thatallows the drip tape.

SAFETY

Safety is a key point in our plants, for human security is expected asfollows:Safety cable that surrounds the entire spiral. 2 manual switch arecontrolled by a specific unit PILZ placed inside the electric cabinet. Inaddition, there are 2 external emergency buttons always connectedto the cabinet through PILZ and PLC. obviously the safeties are alsopositioned on the doors of the cabinet to allow, in case of opening,the locking of the machinery if it is in function.Entry and exit of the spiral are equipped with special protectivecasing.The driver system is fully protected by protective cover.Safety of the machine: The machine is equipped with 4 sensors onthe out-feed and in-feed of the spiral that stops the machine in casethat the belt blocked when the machine it is in function.
