more complex, the challenges our world faces today are many: globalization, hyper competition, digital disruption, geopolitical instability and adapting to the digital economy are a few examples. History is replete with examples of businesses and nations that failed to strategically plan for the future — and thus did not survive. Today, every organization & leader must develop innovative strategies to make this better future a reality. To shape the future that we want; business and government leaders must have new level of thinking, leadership and strategic competencies to envision a better future and devise innovative mechanism to reshape it & sustain it.
For centuries, leaders have sought to put strategy to work to gain an advantage over their rivals and competitors. Whether in battle, business, government services, politics or any other competitive endeavor, a superior strategy is what separates the winners from everybody else. This makes strategic leadership, thinking, planning, and execution the most important components of both public and private sector leadership in the 21st century. The World Strategy Summit aim is to help business and government leaders become effective champions of their strategic undertakings. Featuring some of the world’s renowned Strategy, leadership & Innovation thought leaders: Tom Peters…Gary Hamel… Renee Mauborgne, and Rafael Ramirez - to name a few- makes it a must attend summit for Government & Business leaders of today and tomorrow.
The Summit will discuss this themein light of 4 parameters

Tom Peters is co-author of In Search of Excellence—the book that changed the way the world does business, and often tagged as the best business book
ever. Sixteen books and almost thirty years later, he’s still at the forefront of the “management guru industry” he single-handedly invented. As CNN said, “While most business gurus milk the same mantra for all its worth, the one-man brand called Tom Peters is still re- inventing himself.” His most recent effort, released in March 2010: The Little BIG Things. Tom’s bedrock
belief: “Execution is strategy— it’s all about the people and the doing, not the talking and the theory.” The 100 Most Influential Figures in Modern Business, reviewed the historical contributions of management thinkers and practitioners, from Machiavelli and J.P. Morgan toPeters and Jack Welch. Summarized
Tom PETErS
Peters’ impact: “Tom Peters has probably done more than anyone else to shift the debate on management from the confines of boardrooms, academia, and consultancies to a broader, worldwide audience, where it has become the staple diet of the media and managers alike. Peters - as consultant, writer, columnist, seminarlecturer, and stageperformer—whoseenergy, style, influence, and ideas haveshapednew managementthinking.”
Gary Hamel was ranked by The Wall Street Journal as the “World’s most
influential business thinker” and Fortune magazine has called
him “The world’s leading expert on business strategy.” In 1990
The idea of core competence was introduced into management
literature by Gary Hamel & C.K. Prahalad, Hamel highlighted
the importance of gaining competitive advantage
by not only looking at positioning in terms
of markets and competitors, but also by looking inside your own
company. His pioneering
concepts such as “Strategic intent,”
“Core Competence,” “Industry Revolution,” and “Management Innovation” have changed the practice

The management revolution of the past century has now stalled. Today, organizations face new problems that lie outside the “performance envelope” of their tradition-encrusted, bureaucracy-infused management systems. Accelerating change, digital disruptions, rapid commoditization, and globalization are revealing the limits of our legacy management structures and processes. Fact is, most organizations around the world suffer from a set of common of “incompetencies”—they are inertial, incremental, and often inhuman. These disabilities, the product of an out-of-date management model, are rapidly becoming competitively and socially untenable. That’s why we need another revolution in management—one that is no less radical than the one that spawned the industrial age.
Professor Hamel will outline a radical, yet proven, process for reinventing management for the 21st century. He will show you how to “crowdsource” the challenge of management innovation in your organization, and how to build a portfolio
of bold management experiments. Most importantly, He will show you how to build “ the ultimate competitive advantage”—a capacity to evolve your management model faster than competitors will. In summary, Professor Hamel will show you how you can build organizations that are both fit for the future and fit for human

Tom PETErS re-imagine! Business Excellence in a disruptive age
This is to an extent re-statement. Tom Peters’ abiding theme-passion is energizing executives in the public and private sectors to attempt the bold leaps, which he insists, are survival requisites today. All bets are off… a brief tour of dramatic forces at work, from changing technologies and demographics to the rise of China and India and the profound effects of a new corporate risk profile. Strategies are laidout for accomplishing necessary radical enterprise change.
A “how to” for creating perpetually adaptive enterprises—ready for anything and prepared to turn on a dime. The very metabolism’ of the enterprise must be altered. In that vein, Re-Imagine! discusses wildly altered context (technology, China-India, geopolitical instability, etc.), adaptive skills and bold-breathtaking innovation (top-line focus rather than cost-cutting focus), way up the value-added curve (implemented “game-altering solutions” rather than “services”, “experiences” rather
than “transactions,” and much more), pursue Ripe & Enormous “new” markets (Women, Boomers & Geezers), radical use of IS-IT, a “Roster” of Weird & Wondrous & Entrepreneurial “Talent” engaged in “WOWProjects”, “Metabolic Leadership” (Passionate-Radical Leaders who instill a Discipline of Execution, a Quick Tempo-Adaptive Culture and an appetite to “Eat Radical Change for Breakfast”).

ProGram hIGhLIGhtSLearn the Core Competencies to Shape a Better Tomorrow…
For decades, companies have engaged in head-to-head competition in search of sustained, profitable growth - fighting for competitive advantage, battling over market share, and struggling for differentiation. Yet these hallmarks of competitive strategy are not the way to create growth in the future. According to extensive research by Professors W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne, cut throat competition results in nothing but a bloody red ocean of rivals fighting over a shrinking profit pool. Rather, they argue that lasting success comes not from battling competitors, but from creating “blue oceans”: untapped new market spaces ripe for growth.
Professor Mauborgne, in her keynote, will highlight how blue ocean strategy is being applied to the government sector to achieve high impact at low cost. Meanwhile, she will explore a systematic approach to making the competition irrelevant and outline principles and tools any company can use to create and capture blue oceans
- charting a bold new path to winning the future. She will discuss what Blue Ocean Strategy can do for established business and governments and discuss why ten years out blue ocean strategy is even more relevant today.

rafaEL ramIrEZ Engaging uncertainty Productively: Scenario Planning for Turbulent Times
In uncertain times forecasting the future, risk management, and other related approaches developed in more stable conditions to predict the tame future are less and less reliable. Engaging uncertain futures in turbulent times – Scenario planning has emerged as an alternative way to engage the wilder futures of turbulent conditions.
Professor Ramirez, in his keynote, will introduce the practice, purpose, methodology, and principles of Scenario Planning and will cover its uses with examples from around the world. He will touch on the intellectual principles that make Scenario Planning rigorous and robust.
John ChILdrESS There Is no Strategy without Execution: The hidden Barriers to Strategy Execution Every business establishes goals and strategies for winning in their marketplace,
but for most companies, strategy execution is poor. While lack of resources or bad strategic assumptions account for around 30% of the failure rate, what are the barriers that account for 70% of poor execution? Drawing upon 35+ years of advisory work in numerous industries, John Childress, former CEO, business author and Senior Executive Advisor will introduce the “Hidden Roadblocks” to effective strategy execution that are poorly understood and routinely ignored by executives.
With examples from nuclear power to global automobile manufacturing to retail, you will walk away with new insights into effective strategy execution and the critical role of leadership and corporate culture.

how to Future proof your organization
16 novembergary hamEL
Today, the most important question for any organization is “Are we changing as fast as the world around us?” Unfortunately, for many organizations, the answer is “no.” Everywhere you look, one sees incumbent organiza- tions on the back foot, out-maneuvered by ambitious upstarts that have not yet succumbed to complacency and bureaucratic inertia. To stay relevant in this hyper-kinetic environment, organizations must build an “evolutionary advantage”, a capacity to change as fast as change itself. An organization with an evolutionary advantage never takes refuge in denial, captures more than its fair share of new opportunities, proactively redefines customer ex-pectations, avoids unexpected earnings shocks, is relentlessly optimistic, changes before it has to, and ultimately invents its future. To build organizations that are adaptable-at-scale, we need to embed a new set of principles in our management systems. Drawing on lessons from some of the world’s most dynamic companies, In his practical and provocative Master Class, he will lay out a blueprint for building an organization that can out-run the future.
Tom PETErSBuilding an Innovation machineRecession or no recession, deep recession or not, the challenge to add more and more value grows, and the importance of innovation, and a culture of innovation, grows exponentially. A “culture of innovation” covers “everything.” … ..There is no half way…...There of course are “first principles.” Or are there? I started a list of “stuff” that’s imperative to creating an innovative enterprise. The list of 10 or so grew to 25, than 45, and at the moment includes no less than 121 “tactics.” Of course you can’t do all of them. Or must you? Well, you can’t do all 121, or maybe even half that number, or less, but the absence of any one or two or three or six weakens and perhaps even imperils the entire structure; that is, we are talking overall about an abiding “culture of innovation,” and it takes a thousand signals roughly aligned to establish it and, especially, keep it in place.

Exploring the Hidden Barriers to Effective Strategy Execution
19 november
John ChILdrESS
Professor Ramírez, in his interactive workshop, will provide participants with a good understanding of what it takes to engage in scenario planning. His exploratory workshop will consist of an explanation of methodology and will help participants better understand the uses and value that investments in scenario planning comprise. For business and organizational leaders who want and need to think through how best to deal with increasing turbulence, and with the complexity and uncertainty that come with it. Prof Ramírez will explain in clear language how future orientation and, specifically, modern scenario techniques help to work with/under these conditions. With examples from a wide variety of international settings and circumstances - including large corporations, inter-governmental organizations, small firms, professional bodies, and municipalities. This experiential workshop will be mostly hands on, in groups dealing with real issues, supported by lectures. After exploring scenario planning with Prof Ramírez the participants will understand the underlying framework methodology and how they relate to strategy. This workshop will provide powerful tools to give forward-thinking executives an advantage in turbulent times.

A strategy is a set of plans and objectives, but strategy execution is critical to business growth and competitive advantage. Do you know the barriers to effective execution in your organization? This workshop will engage participants in exploring the hidden barriers to strategy execution. These are the barriers that leaders, with knowledge and insight, can effectively reverse, thus ensuring a higher probability of delivering strategic value. Participants will explore the major execution barriers, determine the degree to which they exist inside their own organization, and learn best practices to overcome execution barriers.
