The National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS) provides

support, information and advice for patients and their families.

NASS works to raise awareness of AS and provides a helpline,

website and publications. NASS runs a branch network of 90

branches throughout the UK offering regular supervised

physiotherapy sessions.

One of the oldest books in the Heberden Library, this slim volume is an anonymous collection of German verse concerning gout. The title translates as ‘Gout answers before the judge’. Gout was knownhistorically by the Latin name podagra.

The Library is housed at the Royal Collegeof Physicians, and contains books publishedbefore 1983. The books published from 1983onwards, from the time of the formation ofthe British Society for Rheumatology, arehoused at our offices in Bride House.

As well as the collections at the Royal College of Physicians and the British Society forRheumatology, additional non-book archivesare currently housed at the Wellcome Library.
