PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Hello Brooweena Community,
Welcome to 2020. I hope that everyone enjoyed a relaxing
and fun Summer holiday break.
Our school year has started wonderfully, with three new
families starting, giving us four new students. Welcome to
Samuel and Jessie in Prep, Jason in Year 5 and Elizabeth in
Year 6. Our current enrolments are sixteen, which is
fantastic. We have students in every year level for the first
time in quite a few years.
This year we welcome two new teachers to Brooweena. Miss Kelsey will be
teaching Health and PE and Respectful Relationships on Fridays. The children
have been loving doing movement through gymnastics. Mrs Birch will be
teaching HASS and Technologies on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The children
enjoyed getting to know Mrs Birch and talking about themselves and their
families in their first lesson. Some lovely pictures were drawn of their families.
Last week Playgroup had its first morning. It was lovely to see our little ones
after the six week break. Playgroup runs each Friday in our school library
from 9:00 – 11:00am. It is facilitated by one of our teacher aides, Kerri Ford,
who organises outside playtime, story sessions and craft. Morning tea is
provided by the school. Come along and meet other local families. We love
Playgroup!
Brooweena State School has been selected to have an eKindy pod this year.
We are very excited to be able to offer this service to our community. eKindy,
coupled with our Playgroup, is a fantastic way for our local children and their
families to be able to access a playgroup / kindergarten experience prior to
starting school. If you are interested in your child participating in the eKindy
pod, please contact me for more information.
A facilitator will be needed for the eKindy pod. The position is for 6.5 hours
per eKindy day (at this stage this will be one day per week). An expression
of interest for the position of facilitator is attached to this newsletter.

What’s coming up?
The Annual General Meeting will be held at the school at 4 pm on Monday 17th February.
All positions will be vacant and up for nomination. If you wish to have a say in fundraising for our School, please come along and join us.
The AGM will be followed by a General Meeting to discuss the Tuck Shop menu and fundraising ideas for the year, please join us.

eKindy Pod Expression of Interest to Work as a BUSHkids eKindy Facilitator
BUSHkids is looking for an eKindy facilitator to work in an eKindy Pod at
Brooweena State School. We are looking for someone who likes working with
kindy aged children and is keen to support local children to have a
kindergarten experience prior to starting school.
Requirements:
Over 18
Blue card
First aid certificate ( working in early years first aid including asthma and
anaphylaxis or be will to obtain prior to starting)
Experience with children.
Each facilitator works 6.5 hours per pod day.
