“This website was designed for my client Queen Bee Salon & Spa., a salon and spa in the Los Angeles, California area. The design was by Farm Design in Los Angeles, CA and then as the coder I took it and created it using WooThemes Canvas framework. The services pages utilizes custom post types to display the staff allowing it easy for the client to edit and display on the frontend.”

“A website that looks extremely simple and shows off this refurbished gem of an Inn right on the beach in West Dorset, UK. The large images work well with the stark, white background and simple, grey text. This website is stripped right back with no frills and lots of white space. The brief was to create a website that hits you with good images and then you scroll down for the information.”

#4: SHUT UP AND PLAY THE BOOKS!
“Shut Up and Play The Books! is a blog born in June 2013 that make playlists from the music in the books. The website also have interviews with writers about their work and the music that inspiresW them. The articles are in french but Google Translate is embedded on every page of the website so it can be translated (almost perfectly) in every langage.”

Are there any customisations that you are proud of?
“The articles are shown nicely using the GridFx plugin, the menu is aligned right with a Pootlepress plugin and a sticky menu is working on every page. A plugin called Rotating tweets has been customised to show nicely the latest tweets and a team page has been customised from the team member plugin from Woothemes. On the smartphone view three sticky social buttons have been added to easily share the articles.”

#5: MAD WELLNESS
Mad Wellness was designed to be a platform for all things nourishing and inspirational. The client, Maddie Berky, is a holistic health coach, rowing coach, and Cross Fit instructor. Her musings, shared in her weekly blog posts, inspire hundreds of Paleo and health conscious readers. We used the Pootle Press Page Builder and Page Customizer to really bring this site to life. Custom header images on key landing pages help orient the user, and Page Builder (and the LOVE IT-Post Loop) helped us create dynamic landing pages for her blog content.”

“White2tea is a website devoted to providing the best quality teas from China. Tea is my passion. After moving to China in 2005, I fell in love with Puer tea and wanted to build a website that offered the quality teas I was drinking in my daily life to the West.
The canvas theme was an ideal fit for my site. There was immediate synergy between the simple elegance of the design and my brand, which focuses on a minimalist sales philosophy and putting substance over hype.”

“My site is not overly complicated, but that is exactly what I appreciated about the Canvas theme. It allowed for me to showcase the beauty of the tea without a lot of non-sense design elements and distraction.
I’ve always felt that tea has enough beauty to speak for itself without smoke and mirrors. Canvas was an excellent vehicle to give customers an honest look at the nature of what they are buying.”

“Studio Ibis is my new site for my printmaking and illustration. It’s the second WordPress site I’ve designed, after getting a feel for WP while working on an arts organization’s site using Simplicity, which led me right to Canvas.
I was looking for a theme that would give me more customization than Simplicity did in order to get the sort of American Arts & Crafts Movement look-&-feel that I was trying to achieve for my traditional linoleum block prints and copper-plate etchings.”

Are there any customisations that you are proud of?
“The two biggest clinchers for me to achieve the look I wanted were the ability to utilize Google Fonts right within the theme, and being able to utilize Canvas’ completely customizable boxed layout. That allowed me to put in the William Morris wallpaper backgrounds on the sides.
The ease in which I can customize the palette, background texture and fonts were a pleasant surprise, and I’m proud of the fact that my Canvas site in no way
resembles the “out of the box” layout I started with.
As a graphic designer by trade prior to becoming an exhibiting artist, I’m very happy with the toolkit that Canvas offers. All website design feels constrictive to me after being a magazine and print art director for over twenty five years, but Canvas comes closest to allowing me the freedom I once had on the blank (hard copy) page.”

“I started the site and YouTube channel as a way to teach how to play popular worship songs on guitar. It has since grown into a business, and I offer lots of guitar training videos ranging from basic to more advanced guitar lessons, song lessons, and song performance videos. I use the Canvas theme, and I haven’t done a ton of customizations, but I think the overall look is clean and simple and still communicates the brand and culture that I’ve developed. I use the Pootlepress menu plugin to achieve the look and feel of the main navigation.”

Are there any customisations that you are proud of?
“Using Bootstrap 3 integrated with the Canvas theme we’ve created a custom navigation menu while also allowing our client to add bootstrap shortcodes to post and page content. This gives clients added abilities when creating new content, while also giving the web designer more options when it comes to layout creation.
The business page template is in use for the homepage, however it has been modified to include additional content sections to add
interest; including custom iconography and a large format welcome message.
One particular custom feature I’m excited about is the time, date, and location custom product data fields which only show on product lists and detail pages for product in particular categories. This helps to keep a consistent front-end experience while assisting site admins in event ticket product creation. A small but valuable feature... it’s the little things.”

“Immanuel Art is a legacy project in remembrance of and artist named Leokadia Marie Alexander. Reproductions of Leokadia’s art is being sold and licensed for the first time online. This e-commerce website, uses Canvas theme and WooCommerce, and took around a hundred hours to complete. This site would have taken about a thousand hours without the Canvas Extensions from PootlePress.”

“The creative director for the project comes from a print background so most of the compositions from the designer had the layout of a book. However, the Page Builder extension reduced the time taken to stylize the layouts, accomplish the same look and feel to match the compositions, and add the level of detail brought by the creative director and the designer.”
Are there any customisations that you are proud of?
“I’m pleased with how the About LMA Page turned out. The three images inline with the last image spanning down into the next row is a cool print style effect which would have taken a few hours of coding custom CSS, but instead it took about 10 minutes. Huge time saver. Thanks, PootlePress!”
