Fall Family Fun on Saturday, October 15, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.Bring the family and join the fun as we celebrate Fall together! Stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to decorate your pumpkins, plays some games, and listen to stories! Stick around as we wrap it up with snacks and a viewing of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” beginning at 11:30 a.m. This program is open to all ages and registration is not required. Hope to see you there.

Detectives Needed as CLUE LIVE @ YOUR LIBRARY Returns Join us for an evening of intrigue as the game of CLUE comes to life at the Brownsburg Public Library on Saturday, October 8 or Saturday, October 15 between 7 and 10 p.m. You and your group (maximum of 5) will be led through the mansion by a detective to visit each room and try to narrow the field of suspects, weapons, and locales. In several rooms you will encounter various characters from the game... Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, etc. You can talk with them, but they probably won’t reveal much (at least truthful anyway). Once you think you have solved the crime you’ll write down your solution and give it to your detective. In the final room the detectives will check the answers and the person who gave him the correct solution first is the winner. That person will receive a special prize. The rest of the group will receive candy and a certificate. Souvenir photos will also be taken. Timed tickets are available at the Brownsburg Public Library at 450 South Jefferson Street, Brownsburg. Tickets are $30/group (maximum of 5) or $7/person. It will take approximately one hour to complete your investigation. Don’t miss out on kooky crime-solving fun for the whole family! For more details, please feel free to contact Amie Thomas at [email protected] or 852-3167, ext. 108.

Holiday HappeningsDeck the Walls with Wreaths so Jolly…Beginning October 1 you’ll be able to stop by and pick-up a wreath to decorate for our “Deck the Walls” wreath auction. Wreaths are just $2 and are a great way to advertise your business or organization. Once decorated, please return the wreaths by October 28 to the library. We’ll display them during the whole month of November during our auction and then our lucky winners will take the wreaths home to hang on their doors for the holiday season. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Friends of the Library (which in turn support our programming efforts).

Holiday Shop Opening Saturday, November 5Our much anticipated Holiday Shop will open on Saturday, November 5. Our lovely shop will feature new and like-new books, gift items, and holiday décor. Shop early for beautiful ornaments, Teddy Bears galore and lots of stocking stuffers! Proceeds benefit programming for the library.

Get Grinchy on Tuesday, December 13, 5 to 7 p.m.Join us for a night of “grinchy” family fun. We’ll watch the classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” as well as enjoy fun activities including the return of the “Stink, Stank, Stunk” station and much more. And keep your eye out... the Grinch might just be lurking about! This event is free and open to the whole family (no registration required).

Wait there’s more! Library Shop Special EventsKeep an eye on the Silent Auction display window beside our Library Shop. A wide variety of beautiful and collectible books are available for the public to purchase via the auction bid process. Some of the themes of upcoming auctions will showcase seasonal books, books with beautiful bindings, and children’s books.

We’ve found a way to make Tuesdays extra special with our Secondhand Tuesdays. On the second Tuesday of every month Feburary through September, the Library Shop will have a $1/bag sale for that day only from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to find a great bargain!

One County, One Book September – October 2011Each year, everyone in Hendricks County has a chance to read the same book and be involved in activities related to that book! Grab a book and start reading anytime. This year’s title is Mornings with Barney by Dick Wolfsie. You’ll fall in love with Barney... the famous beagle who stole his way into the hearts of thousands of Hoosier television viewers! Be sure to stop by the library to reserve your copy and pick up a brochure with more details on all the fun events related to this title.

TECHspiration Creative Media LabDiscover. Capture. Share. That’s what we hope you’ll do in our new Creative Media Lab located in the Brownsburg Public Library. Here you can scan old photographs at warp speed (25/minute of varying shapes and sizes), create your own film projects, and edit your work on our new iMac computers. We have everything you need to capture your memories and share them with your family and friends. The grand opening for this new space will be Monday, October 3. Be sure to stop by and take a tour! This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Coffee and Reading Go Hand-In-HandWhat goes better with reading than a cup of coffee? We’re so excited to announce a brand new addition to our facility, The Literate Bean coffee shop. Owner, Lee Tesdahl will be opening his cart for business during the month of September. Be sure to stop by and say “hi” to Lee and grab some delicious brew.
