These regulations are therefore t o be observed. lt it impor tan tto ensure that adequate instruction s are given and that all req u i rd p recau t ions are exercited.

1 ScopeThis part of IS 0 11126 specifies requirements forolivine sand abrasives, as supplied for blastcleaningprocesses. It specifies ranges of particle sizes andvalues for apparent density, Mohs hardness, moisturecontent, conductivity of aqueous extract and water-soluble chlorides.The requirements specified in this part of IS 0 11126apply to abrasives supplied in the "new" conditiononly. They do not apply to abrasives either during orafter use.Test methods for non-metallic blast-cleaningabruives are given in the various parts ofIS 0 11127.NOTES1 Informationon commonly referenced national standardsfor non-metallic abrasives is given inannex A.2 Although this part of IS 0 11126 has been developedspecifically to meet requirements for preparation ofsteelwork, the properties specifiedwill generally be appro-priate for use when preparing other material surfaces, orcomponents, using blastcleaning techniques.
