    BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ACCOUNTANCY

    A 5-year program which puts emphasis on a thorough accounting study to gain adequate knowledge for professional competence.

    The program develops accounting students to become Certified Public Accountants equipped with high level of theoretical knowledge and sound principles and techniques to serve the needs of globalize economy. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM To meet the needs of the accounting profession with a broad & extensive training in business,

    accounting, auditing and information technology. To develop the capabilities of students and to prepare and equip them with the required

    knowledge to become Certified Public Accountants so that they can function as competent professionals in an increasingly complex and changing environment.

  • RETENTION POLICY A student should maintain an individual rating of 2.0 or better in all Accounting, Law, Taxation and Finance subjects. One retake per subject is allowed in case of cut-off failure. At the end of Year 2, Comprehensive Examination Level 1 (CEL 1) shall be administered to the student to gain admission to Year 3. This will be followed by CEL 2 at the end of Year 3; CEL 3 at the end of Year 4, and finally CEL 4 in the 5th year at the end of 1st semester. To pass the Comprehensive Examination, the student should obtain a general average of 75% but with no grade below 65% in any of the CEL subjects. Those who do not pass CEL 1 and 2 shall not be allowed a retake and will be advised to shift. Retake is allowed for CEL 3 and 4. The student shall apply for the said examination and pay the required fees. For more clarification, please contact the office of the Chair. FACULTY The faculty line-up includes CPAs with doctoral degrees in Business Administration, Ph.D. in Technological Management, Masters degree in Business Administration, Master of Science in Accountancy, Lawyers, and CPA-Lawyers. Most of the faculty members are current practitioners in various fields of their expertise while some were previously connected with organizations of high reputation. ADMISSION POLICIES 1. IQ requirement 95 2. APT & EPT 50 APPLICATION PROCEDURES All applicants must secure the USC application form. Complete application packages should include:

    1. High School report card or Form 137 2. 3 copies 2 x 2 picture 3. Testing fee

    FINANCIAL AID Scholarships are available to deserving students. These grants are generally good either for a year or for the duration of the program and are awarded on academic merit or financial need.

    POSSIBLE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BS-ACCOUNTANCY GRADUATES

    CPAs can wear many hats. They are chief financial officers for top corporations, advisors to small neighborhood business. They work for public accounting firms, big, small and large; Commerce & Industry; Education; and Government. They are well-respected strategic business advisors and decision-makers. They act as consultants on many business issues, including taxes and accounting.

    AIMS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTANCY 1. To develop professionally competent and socially responsible graduates equipped with Christian

    values as they act as change agents in local, national and global communities; 2. To provide adequate training applying innovative and experiential approaches to prepare them for the

    Certified Public Accountants Licensure Examination, professional practice and entrepreneurship; 3. To continually update curricular and instructional programs to meet the demands of national and

    global standards in varied fields of specialization; 4. To coordinate with other colleges and departments in the implementation of curricular programs, co-

    curricular and extra-curricular activities for accountancy and non-accountancy students; 5. To maintain the standards of excellence in teaching, through application of student-centered

    instructional approaches and continuing education of faculty; 6. To undertake researches based on the Research Agenda of the college and the university and ensure

    that research outputs are utilized in enhancing teaching and learning. 7. To sustain linkages with industry and government through community-oriented projects involving

    students of practicum courses and alumni in their respective work organizations; 8. To collaborate with students in their efforts to develop their leadership potentials through involvement

    in student organizations.
