The proposition: One woman to swim between major Balearic Islands and on from Ibiza to mainland Spain. The distance: 215km The water temperature: 15-22C The swimmer: Anna Wardley, 40, is a British endurance swimmer and charity fundraiser with a strong track record for completing gruelling swims. Anna took up swimming when she was 31 and completed a solo Channel swim two years later. In 2013 she completed her Five Island Swim Challenge, culminating in a 60-mile non-stop swim around the Isle of Wight in 26 hours and 33 minutes. To date Anna has raised over £65,000 (90,000) for charity and is a sought-after motivational speaker. She was named Inspirational Woman of the Year 2013 at the Johnston Press South Awards in recognition of ‘her incredible swimming achievements and outstanding efforts raising money for charity’. Anna also heads up Seagrass Communications Limited, an international PR and event management agency specialising in the marine sector and sailing events. The rules: Anna will swim under strict Channel swimming rules, which include wearing just a regular swimsuit, cap and goggles. In the water she cannot make any contact with her support vessels and cannot receive any outside assistance; food and drink will be passed to her in a net by her support team. The Challenge: • Stage 1: Menorca to Mallorca: 37km Timeframe: April/May 2016 • Stage 2: Mallorca to Ibiza: 88km Timeframe: May/June 2016 • Stage 3: Ibiza to mainland Spain (Denia): 90km Timeframe: June/July 2016 Hazards: Inclement weather, injury, illness, jellyfish, large sea mammals and marine traffic. Comprehensive risk assessments and safety management plans will be in place to mitigate these risks. En 2013 completó su Desafío de Natación de las Cinco Islas, el cual culminó en que nadara 100km sin parar alrededor de la Isla de Wight. Anna ha recaudado £65.000 (€90.000) para organizaciones benéficas y es una oradora motivadora muy codiciada.
