STATE TIMES NEWSUDHAMPUR: A workshopon Goods and Services Tax(GST) was organized hereon Tuesday at Conferencehall, DC complex under thechairmanship of DeputyCommissioner NirajKumar.

During the workshop,Divisional Commissioner,Jammu Dr. MandeepBhandari also interactedwith participants throughvideo conferencing andbriefed them about the newtax regime.

A detailed presentationwas also given byAdditional Commissioner(Adm) State Tax depart-ment, Jammu AnooMalhotra via video confer-encing.

The presentation high-lighted various aspects ofGST including Backgroundof GST, Concept of GST,registration, types of taxes,difference between GSTand VAT etc.

Meanwhile, a team ofCommercial Tax officersalso interacted with thelocal traders. The teamcomprising CTOs, SanyaHaq, Rahul Sharma andNarendra Anthal interact-ed with the representativesof various business estab-lishments and answered

their queries regardingGST. The speakers alsoassured trading units andbusiness establishmentsthat more such workshopswould be organised in thedistrict for generatingmass awareness about theGST and its successfulimplementation on groundlevel.

Besides, the Districtadministration alsolaunched special helplinenumbers (272727/272728) to address andrecord grievances ofstakeholders regarding theimplementation of GST. Itwas further informed thattraders can also contactdirectly to Commercial Taxdepartment on helplinenumber 7051889993 orthrough e-mailhelpdeskjkgst@gmail.comto seek reply of queriesregarding the GST.

Meanwhile, the DeputyCommissioner directed the

CTO Udhampur to providethe details of the registra-tion data of GST on weeklybasis. AD FCS &CA andAC Legal Metrology weredirected to conduct inspec-tions to ensure that noovercharging is being madeby the business establish-ments in the name of GST.They were also directed toensure that proper displayof rates and billing by theshopkeepers.
